alternate character interpretation prompt (for the evilulz) anonymous June 14 2011, 21:01:22 UTC
Simply put, Artemis is the mole, and is remorseless about it. All her interactions with the team have been cold-bloodedly manipulative. As far as she's concerned, she has this team of goody-shoes wrapped around her finger. Especially Wally; he's just so much fun to play with.

The problem with this is that every single person on the team is also evil. Each one thinks they're the only evil one on the team. Each one thinks the rest are a bunch of oblivious heroes.

Each one thinks he/she is a cunningly disguised Manipulative Bastard.

M'gann might be the only exception to the "clueless" thing, since she has no moral objections to just reading the others' thoughts without their knowledge or consent.

So. Evil Young Justice. That everyone else thinks is good. (Roy is his normal, unsubtle self, though.)

Bonus: Some/all of the mentors are genuine heroes and good people, and they don't know the kids are evil.
Superbonus: The bonus is pulled off without invoking Good is Dumb.

tl;dr, each member of Young Justice is evil, but they all think ( ... )

I'm seeing a moment where this all comes out, and the collective reaction of yj is 'you mean we could have been robbing banks the whole time? Dammit!'

and then they go off to take over a small country.

OP has just written a mini-fill for her own prompt. Hopefully I'll inspire someone else...?

The team sat in stunned silence as M'gann finished explaining what she had figured by --apparently-- reading their minds when she was bored.

After several seconds of tension as everyone absorbed the implications, Wally threw his hands up into the air. "You mean we could have been robbing banks the whole time? Dammit!"

Artemis looked at him, eyebrow raised.

"That's your first thought? Seriously?"

"What. Do you have any better suggestions?" Kid Flash crossed his arms, the very picture of offended genius.

Artemis grinned.

"Actually..."

The Watchtower

"Batman?"

The Dark Knight looked up as Wonder Woman and the Martian Manhunter approached him, both looking grim and slightly baffled.

"Do you have any idea why Young Justice just took over Badhnisia?"

oh god, I love inspiring fills. This is just perfect- it doesn't need a word more. The adventures of Young Justice as Badhnisia's Dictators for Life! They totally have a biweekly teatime with Loki and Doom in Latveria, and they only poison the cookies a little bit.
