Anon here is thinking that the abuse happened for years and when it was discovered, it was so violent and horrific that she became famous almost over night. M'gann asked J'onn to take her in so she could get away from the paparazzi and all the people who are suddenly paying way too much attention to her when she just wants to get on with her life.

Totally seconded.

Do they bully her too? Or is she just the youngest or something and they're really awkward around her or jealous that she gets to go to Earth, or are they even worse off than her and whimpering and non responsive, so they're taken to an asylum or something while Megan is especially focused on because she's *functioning* at least and she just wants to be taken away so she gets taken to Earth..
And in canon she's a White Martian. How would that fit in?
This fits so perfectly and it's making me sad! D:

Anyone else read A Child Called It? Because that's definitely how I'm picturing the sibling question being answered.
...it... just could make so much sense. Why she's adopted the identity of Megan from the Hello, Megan series.
I'm actually seriously considering filling this. But don't let tha stop anyone else - with my track record, it'll get filled sometime next decade or stall out halfway through.

And like, except for training rooms, we rarely see Megan in any common household rooms. Even when she offered to change the TV channel for Superboy from No Signal, she was still standing in the kitchen space area. She almost seems really uncomfortable in other rooms, like she isn't used to being allowed in other rooms.
Young Justice fandom could use a good abuse recovery story? About getting better and living, even if that means running away from your own skin.
Also, you should totally give it a shot.

The world is so depressing when even mind readers get abused. :(
I think J'onn is going to have some Uncle!BAMF moments.
