Kryptonian laws

Kryptonian law states that a young would-be warrior must first prove him/herself to their chosen mentor before said mentor can train them or even acknowledge them. It is an old law, so old that it is ingrained into Kryptonians as instinct.

Clark doesn't want to push Conner away, but until his subconcious is satisfied that Superboy is worthy, he can't do much about it.

Conner is frustrated because he understands this but he doesn't know how to prove himself.

Nobody else knows about this law, and thinks that Superman is a jerk/Superboy is needy.

Superboy scowled thoughtfully at a battered piece of note book paper. Pencil in hand he scratched out a line, then immediately erased it before repeating the sequence all over again
