Inspired by a post in the DC Comics meme.

For a brief moment, it looks like Batman is about to die. But Dick doesn't shout out "Batman!" or "Bruce!"; Instead, what he shouts out is "Dad!"

Harley's distracted him.

First mistake.

"Aw, has the wittle bird strayed too far from the nest?"

He grit his teeth. She had pulled him away from where the Joker and Batman were meeting each other blow-for-blow--a long, draining chase through a mess of doors and corridors he really didn't want to remember.

So even after he finally managed to truss her up, head lolling in unconsciousness--courtesy of a well-placed kick to the head--he has an entirely new challenge: finding Batman.

"Great."

He didn't want to radio the Dark Knight, of course--distracting him would only end in disaster. Not exactly a desirable outcome. Which left retracing his steps as his only option. He started pulling up a floor plan on his computer, but then he remembered Bruce telling him that it was no good--outdated.

"Just great," he repeated, starting to make his way through the warehouse's dank corridors.

It was barely a minute later when Robin heard the yell. Not a split-second later, he realized it wasn't the Joker making the noise.

And then light was flooding Robin's vision. A blink, then another, and then he recognized the Watchtower's transport bay ( ... )

I was trying to remember why I stay up and then part two showed up in my inbox! Ha!

Your fight scene was amazing (I hate writing those, they're so hard to make natural) very concise, thrilling, and fluid.

I like how you went in an uncommon direction; most people would use the "Dad!" to make OTHER people react and here you let it be a private moment between Dick and Bruce. It's so moving. I love how Dick searches for the right words to say at the end and how he finds the perfect ones.

"Lame" title is adorable.

BC's little moment was the deepness. :)

I love every word of this. The pulse of the story just emphasizes the idea of falling; I feel like I'm getting closer and closer to the edge.

The concept is just beautiful. Robin seeing the similarity of the way he might just lose his parent to how he lost his parents and using that similarity as not a terrible thing but motivation to fuel Batman to save himself.... "Gut-wrenching" was another reviewer's word choice and I must agree.

I love all your descriptions of action...oh! and how you mentioned Harley being too easily accommodating. (She does that so much in the Batman video games *was watching brother play Arkham City*)
