Sorry for a weird prompt... anonymous February 29 2012, 00:10:50 UTC
I just have a weird thought. Uhmmm th Cadmus cloning project always ended in failure - clone degeneration, imperfect powers, starts to have mind of its own and goes against them, etc. They can't make a perfect weapon that can kill/replace Superman.

So tried a different approach this time. Instead of developing one weapon, they're going to make a set of different weapons - each focusing on different powers that could go toe on toe with Superman.

Superstrength

Cadmus didn't gave up on making a clone. But instead purely only Superman's DNA in making him, they mixed it with another but compatible DNA to prevent generation. It affected the clone's other powers (such as heat vision and flight), but it preserved his superstrength and invulnerability. The change of DNA also augmented his mind capacity/knowledge. That result was acceptable especially since it ensures that the clone will last for a long long time.

Superspeed

The clone wouldn't be able to defeat Superman alone, so Cadmus needed to give it some sort of teammates to fight ( ... )

Superman was many things. He was a Hero of Metropolis. He was a member of the Justice League. He was the Last Son of Krypton.

He was also, uncontestedly, the most powerful being on the planet.

This could not stand. It did not balance. Every force needs an equal to oppose it. Superman had none.

There were no foes who could equal him on the physical plane. Oh, sure, some would rival his strength, but then they could not also match his speed, or if they could equal his pace, his arsenal of other gifts would always ensure he had the advantage over his opponent.

He had no equal, and thus, he truly was the world’s greatest threat, yet he was also their greatest hero.

The Light set about to correct this injustice.

There was no hesitation between the three, no questioning or planning between them. The only entrance to the LuthorCorp ballroom was the double doors on the east wall, that and Conner’s hearing assured them that that would be the entrance point ( ... )

oh, uh wow. that was really good. this was really good. you actually succeeded in making me feel something for megan, she just got on the wrong ship and ended up being tortured and experimented on horribly :(
and poor wally, he's the third wheel even when their minds are all linked.

Thanks, but I wouldn't say that Wally is the third wheel. Conner and M'gann care for him just as much as they do each other, it's just more of a sibling/friendship caring, just as he feels for them.

Author!anon, you're the best! This is a best fill than I could ever hope for. I didn't mind the changes you made from the prompt since you made it all sensible - I never thought of Wally acting as a "leader" but now it seems just right with his experience and hero complex.

Also, poor M'gann. I just want to hug her after reading this. She just went into the wrong ship and this happened. I cannot imagine what will happen should she ever be separated from both Superboy and Wally.

The way you write their team dynamics, how they come together, and their first and 23rd mission are amazing! I can't wait to read more!

Thank you for filling and I hope you continue this soon!

Thanks! I'm glad you didn't mind the changes, cause I just couldn't see Superboy as the leader, and whilst Wally certainly wasn't the best candidate either, I could definitely see him trying to take charge, and then sort of growing into the role.

As for M'gann, yeah, she thought she was jumping on her Uncle's ship, but ended up in a lab. As for what happens when separated from the other two, well, catatonic is a good word for it.

And I do intend to add more, but I'm having a little trouble with my computer at the moment, so it might be a while before I can upload the next segments.
