I am REALLY, REALLY SORRY about taking so long, guys, and about not being around much recently. I've been busier than I have in a while, and it just kept slipping my mind between uni applications and volunteering and all sorts- for some reason I thought we were much further off a new post.

Alright, everyone. Pack up your shit, we're leaving. It's time to go. I know, I know it's hard, but there's nothing left for us here. We knew this day was coming. This comic's canon is rotten and bad and we'll just have to find something else. There's no point trying to make sense of a world where Billy Batson is-and yes, this is canon-an unrepentant asshole. He's a dick. He's terrible.

But we've still got Young Justice animated! It'll be okay. The comics weren't that great anyway. We'll make it through this.

I think I really regret getting into American comics sometimes because of this. Because I'd really like to see dead characters stay dead. And story lines/characters/personalities I've gotten attached to not get totally tossed out the window. It's absolutely killing me, gdi why did I get attached to this fandom, WHY ;__;

Guh, comics is a clusterfuck, I can't even read them for themselves anymore. But...Captain Marvel was my favorite. And they'd already messed him up so badly and I was hoping, you know...

But whatever. I guess I should have just stuck with the cartoon cameos. ;___; And he's great in Young Justice, at least. He's so, so great.

It is. I only read bits and pieces of snippets that are recommended to me now. But I'm just...so put off by the reboot. It's like. I loved Barbara as Oracle, why the hell did they change her to batgirl again. And the Robin backstories are just a mess that just DON'T MAKE SENSE to me because it's way way too compressed compared to before and and - I should stop now before I get into a long long rant.

Oh hoping, such a dangerous thing :C

And he is! Billy is one of the most adorable bundles of cute ever and I want to hug him forever. And we're going to get a Season 2 for YJ (AND MAYBE MORE) so there WILL be more good adorable cute Billy ;v;

I keep hoping this reboot'll flop and it'll all just turn into some weird elseworlds tale... I never really read Captain Marvel comics until just recently. YJ is actually what got me wanting to read about the sweet little adorkable Billy Batson, and now they're changing him before I even get to know him, lame. :D But, idk what's going on over at DC but whoever decided this giant effing overhaul needs to be hit in the head hard with a blunt object so hopefully some sense will be knocked into them.

I still have so many feels over DCnU. I miss Steph as Batgirl and my Big D and little d doing the dynamic duo thing and Oracle being badass and total bff's with Dinah and Cass and Wally and and...*sobs* x\ okay i'll stop ranting now...

That's just it, though. Even if Billy's just 'acting' like a horrible brat, it doesn't change the fact that he's acting like a horrible brat.

Snarky is one thing. But this goes beyond snark. And it's just plain wrong to me for Billy Batson to be saying things that are so openly...cruel. And cynical. If I wanted to read about a jerk hero who's only secretly nice, I'd pick up, uh, pretty much any other comic book ever. Not Captain Marvel.

Here's hoping he'll come to a bit of a revelation and turn his personality around. As its only the beginning we can still hope for a demeanor change, right?

Basically, maybe he'll wake up and smell the douchebaggery he's being?

Here's hoping. ;; I know it's more 'realistic' or whatever it is they're aiming for that Billy would have some bitterness from his situation, but I always liked it better when he was just so darn sunny despite everything.

So I know this prompt is about Billy, and I hate how he is here, I really do, because I love the sweet little kid who defies all odds and retains his innocence and sweetness despite his suffering, but when I got to the end of that page, I got stuck on this.

"For centuries, science has ruled the world. Now magic is returning."

And all I could think was, "Oh man. Poor Wally."

Well as someone who grew up in the system, I'd have to say this is a more realistic characterization of someone who has been moved from home to home, learned how to survive in rotten overcrowded living situations, and learned not to get to settled in because the family will soon give up and push you off onto another family anyway ( ... )
