I am REALLY, REALLY SORRY about taking so long, guys, and about not being around much recently. I've been busier than I have in a while, and it just kept slipping my mind between uni applications and volunteering and all sorts- for some reason I thought we were much further off a new post.

Sorry, totally don't mean to butt into anyone else filling but I ended up typing this small fic before I knew it and I hope no one minds? The more the merrier right?

When he’s up in the air, he has to remain sharp. Focused. The world is narrowed down to the feel of the metal bar held firmly in his tight grip and the rhythm of his body swinging, higher and higher, until he reaches the peak of his swing and knows he has to let go. That’s when he flies.

There’s no safety nets, no back-up line, no promises of a gentle landing, but also no trace of fear. His body only feels a rare form of freedom and empowerment as he gracefully and effortlessly folds into a flip, then shifts into another, and then a third. Before the fourth, he’s already looking out for the hands that will catch him, and for a split second, he expects to see empty air.

But this isn’t Gotham.

The firm hands of his mother are there, outstretched and waiting for him to grasp. And he does, just barely. They are rough with powder, but still warm, firm, and safe.
