Prompt Post - Part Ten

Mar 11, 2012 17:03

I am REALLY, REALLY SORRY about taking so long, guys, and about not being around much recently. I've been busier than I have in a while, and it just kept slipping my mind between uni applications and volunteering and all sorts- for some reason I thought we were much further off a new post.

If there is anything I haven't responded to, as of now, I'm ( Read more... )

Whatever Superman may think of Superboy personally, the fact remains that this is the only other member of his species on the planet. He may have been raised to understand human signals and social cues, but he's hard-wired to understand Superboy. What if the Kryptonian cues are different?

I'm imagining pheromones, changes in color or body-temperature--things too subtle for humans to even detect let alone notice--serving to communicate the kinds of things humans use facial expression and tone of voice for.

Maybe this leads to some really weird behavior from a human perspective. Clark and Conner have fragmented conversations where they seem to be responding to things no one said. They touch fingers instead of making eye contact. Clark sniffs Conner's neck to see if he's lying, and accuses him of smelling sarcastic.

Maybe this freaks Clark the hell out, because deep down he likes to think of himself as human and this is screwing with that ( ... )

No Signal... (alien social behavior fill 1/?) seraphic_blast April 27 2012, 04:37:26 UTC
Connor sighed to himself as the team once again misread his signals. He was happy, really! It's just he doesn't know how to show it like they do. His body doesn't smile like theirs naturally but his pupils dilate and he even gives off a nicer scent then normal! Wally pointed out that he smelled like strawberries, which he liked because he happened to like strawberries, but he didn't think he smelled like that at all he smelled happy damn it! Glaring at the screen Connor continued to listen to watch as it said 'No Signal' something he could relate to. No one seemed to catch his signals but Superman, his father ( ... )

After the mission Connor let M'gann into his mind, the one way he felt he could convey his emotions properly to her and the team. He....he rejected me....not like before but....like he didn't want anything to do with me...what did I do wrong? Connor asked her, she felt badly for him but she didn't know. From what I got of the conversation it seemed like he was upset about you doing something that only Kryptonians and apparently Batman's gadget would notice. M'gann responded as she steered the ship back to the mountain the rest of the team sitting in silence as they wondered what exactly had made Superman scowl like that, and what the hell him and Batman had been talking about ( ... )

Once they were secure in the office, which Batman had cleared of all devices Robin may have placed in it, Dinah motioned for both Kryptonians to sit and checked their emotions. Connor was hopeful, Clark was feeling ill at ease. "Alright. Now I'm going to take off these ridiculous goggles and trust that you will both be open about what is going on. And to make sure you are both aware of how important this is to the league and to Batman and my self I'll say this now, in case you haven't figured it out. I have kryptonite on me and I WILL use it if either of you two attempt to leave here or if you try and use any powers other then thermal vision, NOT heat vision. This is going to be a constructive session, do I make my self clear?" The blond said looking pointedly at the league member who sighed and surrendered to his fate ( ... )

Dinah raised an eyebrow as she looked at Clark. "What exactly do you mean you aren't 'you'?" Dinah asked as she noticed Connor placing his thumb onto Clark's index finger again. Why did they do that if they could see each others emotions anyways? "I mean well....when I was younger ma would tell me not to go around sniffing people when I asked them what was wrong. Other children found it 'creepy' and didn't want to associate with me. It was bad to look at people's body heat and see what they were feeling. It wasn't...normal. She knew I was different, but I don't think she realized just how different I was." Clark said as Connor broke off the connection this time before looking at him oddly ( ... )

They had all stayed at the mountain that night and they had all slept well. Dinah walked into the kitchen, dressed in a black tank top and some blue pajama bottoms and sat down next to Clark, in red pajama bottoms and a black t-shirt who was reading the paper, the kids, in their own Pajamas, were watching cartoons, Wally and Robin arguing over which show was better Digimon or Pokemon, which from the sounds of it Wally was winning having pointed out that Digimon at least didn't have it's monsters based off of kitchen appliances (seriously look it up there is a refrigerator Pokemon no joke). When Connor clad in black pajama bottoms and no shirt walked over and hugged the closet of his teammates, Wally who immediately had a look of confusion and slight fear on his face as Connor rubbed his nose in the redheads hair inhaling deeply. "Morning! My you smell happy today Wally! I'm glad." Connor said with a bright smile before hugging each of his teammates before walking into the kitchen to get himself breakfast ( ... )

I loved the idea of this prompt the first time I read it. I'm so happy to see it has a fill! Such a brilliant one, too! I love that Batman's figured out what's going on, found a way to see the same spectrum changes as Kryptonians, and made a reference key for Dinah. I can only imagine the sneaky sorts of experiments he did around Clark to figure out what each color means.

And wow. Telling Conner to act more like Wally...scary.
