I am REALLY, REALLY SORRY about taking so long, guys, and about not being around much recently. I've been busier than I have in a while, and it just kept slipping my mind between uni applications and volunteering and all sorts- for some reason I thought we were much further off a new post.
If there is anything I haven't responded to, as of now, I'm

She is already there, dressed in the old familiar colors of a Robin, black domino mask hiding the most obvious and telling sign of her Tameranean heritage, and watches him as he continues on into the lockers to change, her wariness concealed beneath the jarring echo of false bravado and bristling anger.
She is ten years old, the spoiled brat child of royalty, trained to be the perfect warrior heiress to the kingdoms of her parents and thinks she knows everything. She only just met Dick a little while ago, but all her life she’s heard the stories and dreamed about how perfect it would be when she met her father, never knowing that he already was a father of sorts to another, orphaned boy. And then, before she really gets ( ... )

Too cute >.

xD Yeah, he's got at least seven years on her, most of which were under Dick's influence. It's definitely mellowed him out.

And its even better that Damian is so aware of it, not just the irony of the situation, but also of the forces and stories that shaped both of their lives.
And your Damian is just so perfect I could die. You can clearly see the arrogant brat he used to be, but you see how he has has grown out of that and become an amazing man, just like both his biological father and his surrogate father.
You are totally amazing and wonderful. I am just blown away, thank you so much.

Ah yes, it seemed fitting that the children of legends, so deeply connected to the reality behind the myths, would both have to face that reality. Damian's had the benefit of experience, having years ago learned the lesson that Mar'i now must learn, which is that her father was human and not invincible. And then, not to mention, the added layer that for all that Dick did not want to become Batman, not only did he eventually do so, Mar'i's origin almost directly mirrors Damian's.
Thank you again. I'm of the school that, left with the right encouragement, he has the potential to become so great. And, while it certainly won't be easy for him (Mar'i's a tough bratty cookie that in many ways is out of his element completely), he's just as determined and tough as Bruce and just as devoted to his loved ones as both Dick AND Bruce.
You're welcome, again, OP. :3
Oh, and, JSYK, any additional one-shots I make to this will start with the title "Moulting: " and I'll keep them all linked off the ( ... )

I don't even know who I'm the more sorry for, Damian for losing his surrogate father or Mar'i for losing her actual if just-met father.
You can see that Damian is grieving and he's maybe still a bit of a fuck-up and aware of it and yet she's Dick daughter and that means everything. And on the other hand, you can also see how much he's come from being a bratty hothead himself.
“What was it my father used to say? I’m so not feeling…”
“…the aster,” Damian finishes, smiling a little.

I'm a little of column A, a little of column B myself.
That about nails it on the head, actually. She may be a brat, but she's Dick's daughter and he knows she needs someone to help and teach her.

Everything about this is perfect. Everything. And Damian's only just old enough for his driver's license? So he's sixteen? Ouch, sobsob that's gotta hurt. But they'll make it through. Batman and Robin always do AND THEN THEY FALL IN LOVE AND HAVE LITTLE ACROBAT/TAMARANIAN/NINJA BATBRATS.

She's an acrobat/ninja/Tamaranian/Bat by birth, and she's a brat by nature (also, Dick was a little brat at some point in his life).

Thank you. Yep, 16 1/2 to 17, or so. Not a terribly long time, but long enough, and, oh god, does it hurt because really Damian knows everyone in the extended Batfam is going to come snooping and judging and butting in their two-cents or worse, attempt to take her away from him because he's still technically considered too young/immature to raise a kid by himself.
Well, it could happen. I have some further vingettes planned.

Tim not being happy is an understatement, which I may detail more in another vignette (after all, Dick influenced a lot of lives, many of which are now Damian's peers or elders in the greater superhero community). And then there's more than enough contention about no one knowing anything about girls in that house, but Alfred is the best and he can handle bratty bats of all ages and genders with expert skill and snark. The superpowers, however, may require external help.
Oh, it won't be, if it pops up. Mar'i might have a little respect-crush on him early on (once he earns it), but... oh my, spoilers!
