I am REALLY, REALLY SORRY about taking so long, guys, and about not being around much recently. I've been busier than I have in a while, and it just kept slipping my mind between uni applications and volunteering and all sorts- for some reason I thought we were much further off a new post.

Billy Batson was ten years old. He lived with a man named Dudley H. Dudley, affectionately nicknamed ‘Uncle Dudley’, and, prior to living with the man he had been homeless.

He had a best friend named Freddie, now twenty years old, who used a crutch to get around because he was slightly crippled. They had been friends for a long time, ever since Freddie was a kid himself.

Billy Batson lived in Fawcett City; it was best known for its archaic building architecture, and seemingly being permanently stuck in the 1940’s. It was also the town with the longest recorded Superhero history- Captain Marvel.

The hero hadn’t aged a day since he had first appeared, but had been placed in relative obscurity. It was only recently, in the past two years did anyone even realize that Captain Marvel even existed other then his city.

Billy Batson was ten years old. He looked ten years old. He is Captain Marvel, one of the mightiest superheroes on Earth, his magical based superpowers rivaling Superman’s ( ... )

The wizard had told him this. But he had never… never appreciated what it meant. All he had thought was that it would be easy enough. And it had been for the first sixty five years. But now he was recognized. He had friends.

He had the League- he had so many people surrounding him; more then he could ever imagine when he was a ten year old homeless boy. He wasn’t homeless anymore- he had Uncle Dudley. He had a life, fragile as a newly hatched bird.

A dark figure stepped out from the shadows. Billy’s head jerked up.

It was Superman. A dark frown was on his face, and the child gulped at the sight of it. How long had the alien been watching him?

“Billy, you’ve been here for hours. What’s going on?”

“I-It’s nothing. Just saying goodbye to a friend of mine.”

Supermans face shifted in that moment, as he floated over. His feet lightly skimmed the grass, and suddenly Billy was seized by the urge to yell, scream, shout, do something.

But he couldn’t. He couldn’t shout out for the world to hear that the person buried right here had ( ... )
