So I think- think- I fixed the subject line issue. The layout is still clunkier than it used to be, alas- who the hell designs this site, seriously- but it is at least better than it has been?

If there's any issues, or if LJ changes things again, please don't hesitate to bring it to my attention! Ugh, I'm really sorry about this, guys.

(Honestly, if ( Read more... )

Users have been reporting that even though they turned off automatic payments, when they went back, it has been turned back on. (http://news.livejournal.com/140511.html?thread=98346463&style=mine#t98346463)

Seriously, go check right now before you get landed with a bill you don't want. Also, please spread the word around so that way more people can hear it.

For people who don't like the dreamwidth styles, here there is a way of making it look like pre-88 LJ.
We won't have to lose anything already on this meme because DW is working on community importing and it should be up next week, though it'll be paid-only at first Denise said that it should be free after a couple weeks. (& I just checked and we fall under the 100k comments limit; we're currently in the 60k range)
Also, if you create an openID you can customize the site style, subscribe to folks, leave comments, etc. Non-account holders can also customize their site-layout, it just gets saved as a cookie.

For LJ: if you have Chrome/Firefox you can get the extension Stylish and there are several scripts to change the default layout to be less migraine-inducing and whatnot. (I'm using Livejournal Modern (customizable) atm and it looks great imo!)

Nope, I won't be following over to DW if the meme moves. Like another person above said, I follow a lot of other memes and communities here, and I track all the posts so they all go into my messages inbox. Going to DW would just mean another site I'd have to remember to check. Given that there is nothing else on DW that interests me, I doubt I would remember.

If there was a way to get DW's messages into my LJ inbox, then sure.

It seems like the meme could survive if it were to move to Dreamwidth.

Personally, however, I have no interest in moving to Dreamwidth. I may read fills every once in while, but I'd stop responding to promts. It's just easier to keep track of my writting when it's only on two sites (FF and LJ).

Great job with the layout Mod. I'm very happy with it.

Just some input: first of all I personally wouldn't move to Dreamwidth with the meme but if push comes the shove obviously it would survive since I'm in the clear minority.

More importantly however I've noticed that you got rid of the link to the fill post in the most recent prompt post. I think this is not only problematic for us veterans who've been around long enough to know that post exists and have to take the time to go to a prompt post that does link to the fill post (oh the horror, I have to take two seconds out of my day to click on another link to click on a link! I know I know) but the vastly bigger issue is that newer people might not know of the fill post's existence. Or people might assume it's gone. And the fill post is the closet thing we've got to a directory right now and a couple of fillers do indeed use it, so I think it needs to be a link in the prompt post heading. I mean, it's more relevant than the link to the poll about prompt freezing of post 4 and 5.
