Been a while, hasn't it? Well I'm at my grans and a bit bored so I thought I'd post a thought or two about the latest Dr Who Special. Click under the cut if interested, contains spoilers.
Not bad. I felt on it's own it made for enjoyable watching, but I feel it's a bit difficult to review it without seeing the second part. It'd be like reviewing half a novel, or half a film. It really did seem to be setting things up. Lots of unanswered questions and lots of resolution to do. The most interesting thing about this though was that I didn't feel everything had been set out. It felt more like the end of Utopia than the end of the first part of The Sound of Drums. The snap shot at the end of the Timelords suggested a lot, and made me wonder what their adjeder actually is. I have a feeling that the 'Death of the Human Race,' is in fact only a small problem compared to what's to come. Not that I think they'll be dead long and I am positive some sort of Ret Con button will be pushed. But if it is I hope (and expect) that it only Ret-Con's what happens to earth, not the appearence of the Time Lords.
I also hope something interesting is done with the Master. I myself wondered at why the green spiky things were in it, but they may yet prove their worth I suppose.
My oppinion on this will really change depending on the second part. It has the potential to be truly excellent (and I've got to love it for just keeping the fun collar-things of the Time Lords) but we will see... we will see.
One another note... if the master's turned into something like a cannible, desperate for meat... does that mean all the Master clones will start eating each other?
