Oddly enough, I've noticed a tendency to lose people after I write an intense post. I suppose that I'm only supposed to be light-hearted, politicky, and writery?
It's a funny dynamic, that some posts draw people like flies and others repel them - like DEET!
Personally, I enjoy reading all of your posts - sometimes I'm at a loss of what to say - but it would be rather boring if you were always "light-hearted, politicky, and writery" - because you are much more complex than that.
good question - i think i look at LJ as a much less intense version of friendship - more like the people i hang out with at the local tavern - i see them when i go to have a beer, and the conversation is always interesting, but there isn't much of the usual pressure as an intimate relationship. i agree - this is a "coffee-shop" sort of place, where ideas are exchanged - whether trite or really thought-provoking - and i always have a good time here, whether i engage in the conversation or just passively observe it. i don't have much patience for the people who take LJ so damned seriously that if you don't respond to their comments or to their posts, then they delete their journals and/or flounce off in a huff.
and i rpobably said all of that completely wrong. but yeah.
I always love your posts - but I tend to miss some of them (like that really uber-cool thing that just happened to you last month!!!) because I'm not 100% diligent about reading LJ and my FL... and it would seem that some people who post infrequently almost always manage to do so when I'm not really reading :P
