The Times They Are a'Changin...

Well that's just uber-sucky.

As if things hadn't been weird enough since 6A took over (has it really been more than 2 years?) news now comes round the bend that Brad Fitzpatrick is leaving for greener pastures.  Or at least, more challenging (seriously?) ones. Brad confirms his leaving, but tries to be diplomaticNot so surprisingly, 6A has nothing ( Read more... )

I bought for the same reasons - small company, working hard to provide great community - how could I not support it? I didn't even know if I'd be here a year past that point, but hey...

But it's not so much that his leaving is dooming the company - it's just sort of a... well, honestly? noticable rat leaving the ship...

Sad... when the founder leaves a project he developed from the ground up...

Oh I know he will do very well... but I think when the founder leaves things are never the same- or if the founder sells the company first- does that still apply?

back in may, in a fell swoop of utter stupidity, one of the LJ higher-ups opted to delete en masse a number of LJs because of 'questionable' words listed in their interests section of the user profile - both communities and individuals... unfortunately, it was done without notice and without common sense... so things like a recovery group for victims of childhood incest got deleted because they listed 'child sexual abuse' in the interest section, even tho it was there b/c they were a support group...
it hit the fannish communities hardest, b/c of all of the slash fic - and caused a huge uproar and many people leaving LJ

LJ didn't exactly handle it well - and the cutesy nickname "strikethrough" was given to it by the protestors b/c of the fact that deleted or suspended journals show up on the Friend sections as ljuserx (if that worked) under normal circumstances ( ... )

I have, at last count, the following accounts:

- livejournal
- blogger
- greatestjournal
- vox
- orkut
- tribe.net
- myspace
- okcupid
- iilwy
- twitter
- network54
- pownce
- linkedin

and others I've already forgotten...

the internet world is all about figuring out where the hell your friends are, and trying to keep a presence there - but the truth is that most of us can maintain 2 of 3 steady presences on the internet, but after that, it's just sort of a pain.

For the moment, this is the busiest of all of my social networking sites... but you never know! :)
