BIKE people: need help!

I'm going to sell a Raleigh Grand Prix road bike from the early 80's late 70's. I'm not a bike person, but I'm pretty sure it needs a tune up and probably new wheels. Anyhow, it's a nice aluminum frame for building onto and such. It's got tons of class and style. What do you think a good price would be? I can add pictures later.

Thanks.

The world of bicycle technology moves fast. A 25 year old bike might not get you too much. My advice is to check eBay to see what the going rate is for similar bikes.

The problem was that I did check Ebay and there are similar bikes selling between 700-100 dollars ( obviously depending on upkeep and the like). I really am not looking to make a profit from this, I was just hoping someone would ball park me. Or make an offer. The problem with new bikes is that they ugly and cheesy, like new common-name cars - they are also extremely over-priced for the materials and man-hours involved. I don't understand how an average joe will spend more money on his new bike than I did on my car. And like the new shifters and shit like that, whoopdy do, the old ones still work. I’m just turned off by all of the buying into name brands that has occurred with bike stuff for what isn’t a significant improvement.

I'd buy it off you for my dad, but it prolly wouldn't fit my dad as he is a small one.
