I read Perdido Street Station a few years ago and it really fucked with my head, so it took me a while to get back to Mieville again. I'm currently reading UnLundun right now, though, and I'm loving it. It's probably milder because it's YA fiction but it's still got all the Mieville landmarks. I picked it up because I had tickets to see him at Edinburgh Book Festival and then his talk got canceled... gutted. At least it got me to pick up his writing again.

Perdido Street Station is one of my favorite works of imaginative fiction. It does such an amazing job of mixing sci-fi, horror steampunk in a way that I've just never seen done before. UnLundun I finished a few months back and really enjoyed that one too. I haven't picked up the new one, Kraken yet, but I'm really looking forward to it!

Perdido Street Station just really blew my mind and was really difficult to get through, possibly due to the density of description. Still, his world-building is incredible and his imagination is sheer insanity. I'm really looking forward to Kraken too - so many books on my list.
