SW Official Twitter Q&A Compilation

Feb 26, 2014 21:52

Compiling all the twitter Q&A posts I've been doing on tumblr in one post for easier reading. This post will be updated if more questions are answered.

#1 - 19th Feb
1. Mitsunari (and other unspecified helmeted characters) will have scenes where they take off their helmets.

2. Tomorrow’s announcements will contain more info on the mercenary mode. Bows are not available for CAWs but the weapons used by the main characters in SWC are. [Clarification by
saitou1024: Just to clarify the point about not being able to use bows on CAW: it’s of course referring to generic bow moveset (that you could see on body guards in SW2), not Ina’s moveset.]

3. No custom soundtracks.

4. The PS Vita downloadable copy file size is 3500mb.

5. There will be DLCs for mercenary mode’s CAW.

6. Magoichi’s moveset is going to be a little different (in response to someone saying that Magoichi was difficult to use in SW3).

7. There will be more than 1000 named characters (including NPCs).

8. The weapon you pick up in battle goes to the character you are controlling when the weapon is picked up.

9. They’re not telling us how to unlock the story modes. [Edit: I just realised this might be confusing - they’re not telling us NOW how to unlock the story modes, we’ll find out when we play the game.]

10. Mercenary mode is fully voiced.

11. There will be some additional costumes (possibly DLCs?) where helmeted characters are not wearing their helmets, so it’s possible to play as the un-helmeted version of those characters.

#2 - 20th Feb

1. There are no plans to distribute the SW4 demo but we’ll get a chance to have a close look at the game screen before its release. (I’m not too sure what they mean by game screen here.)

2. Someone asked about unique NPCs (like how Aya and Masanori were in SW3) but they’re not saying anything much other than commenting that Uesugi Kagetora has a unique appearance. Certain generals have unique helmets. The appearance of the generics have been improved.

3. PS Vita TV can’t support co-op play.

4. Someone asks why Takatora has a long chin but according to the dev team, it doesn’t look like he does. Only Takatora knows the truth.

5. It should be possible to create characters that look like the SWC protagonists.

6. Character actions are controlled by the stick. The directional buttons are for something else.

7. The BGM in the released PVs were possibly composed by Kensuke Inage.

8. In response to someone asking about custom colours for the exclusive outfits, the answer is that the outfits will be as per the designs already released.

9. Re: the collaboration with this year’s taiga drama, someone asked if this means that Kanbei and Hideyoshi will get the actors’ faces. The reply is that they will get different outfits, but it’s hard to change the faces.

10. Someone asked if Koshosho is an original character and the reply is that she does exist in records. She is also not the Koshosho that is related to the Asakura.

11. There won’t be a palette swap option but they will be releasing SW1 and SW1XL costumes, starting with Yukimura’s. Oichi will be quite a sight… [Edit to add: they mentioned 1P costumes which I guess means the default costumes]

12. Someone said that their family members are afraid of spiders so Hisahide’s moveset is going to be a problem for co-op play. The reply was to suggest that they don’t think of them as spiders, but crabs.

13. Someone asked if Munenori was going to be in and he’s already announced on the official site.

14. The ambush ninjas and bomb ninjas (idk what’s the proper name for them) will appear on certain battles with new looks. There will also be new types of this kind of special troops (some of them were in the demos).

15. Apparently today’s manga chapter also announces that there will be a tankoubon version? Someone please confirm this for me!

16. Weapon elements will also be effective during the godspeed attacks.

17. …I think someone is asking if the boobs will jiggle in SW4……. and they’re not really answering….

18. Other than the Shikoku-related stages, Gracia will also have parts where she’s with her father. The question also asks if there will be Honnouji and Yamazaki stages from the Akechi POV but the answer is to ‘play the game and find out’.

19. Someone asked about the number of new characters so they just listed the nine that are already announced plus the three from SWC2.

20. Someone asks if Yukimura is wearing a turtleneck in his SW4 outfit (like what he wears for SW1 but in a different colour). The answer is that it’s more similar to his SW2 outfit. It’s a white scarf. Like a biker gang’s kind of image. [SUPER LATE CORRECTION: it's not a biker gang's image, it's a suicide corps image.]

21. Someone asks if Nene’s boobs have gotten smaller and the answer is no, they have not changed. It’s probably her outfit that makes them look different.

22. Someone asks if the godspeed action is dependent on the spirit gauge like how the shadow dash is and the answer is no, you godspeed action can be used anytime.

#3 - 21st Feb

1. There will be a free mode (模擬演武) where all the characters, including edit characters and the characters not in the story modes, are playable.

2. The ally generals on your side will be more reliable. It’ll be easier to help out your allies with the character change option and the ability to set an objective. (I think this is something like being able to order your allies to attack or defend? [Edit: no wait, it’s probably more similar to SWC’s mechanics.] The question was asking if the AI for the ally generals have been improved because it was easy to lose due to things like main camp/ commander being defeated in SW3.)

3. There will be a lot of unique generics [edit: unique generics probably isn’t the correct term lol, what they mean is NPCs like Mouri Terumoto in SW3Z]

4. The Tachibana and the Shimazu will play a big part in the Kyushu story mode. As for which of them will be playable from the start, we’ll find out when we play the game.

5. Re: Kiyomasa’s hair. He’s kind of a plain character colour-wise so that’s why they gave him flashy hairstyle. Maybe he heard Nene saying “A man should have swept back hair, right darling?”

6. Remote play and cross-controller are not supported.

7. There’s a product code that comes with the CD/ music card of the theme song ‘Reverb’ by the band Kuroyume that lets you listen to the theme song in battle.

8. The special song that comes with the CD and the music card are the same.

9. There will be rare weapons as usual.

10. Ii Naomasa is among the NPCs in the game.

11. Requirements for rare weapons will be known when we play the game. Rare weapons are apparently also obtainable in Mercenary Mode.

12. Only the PS3 version is available for store demos.

13. Hisahide and Kojuurou aren’t playable in the store demos.

14. It will be possible to get on the horse while moving.

15. There will be costume DLCs.

#4 - 24th Feb

1. SW4’s CAW will have the most edit parts in the series to date but not all of them will be available from the start. Some will have to be unlocked by meeting certain requirements.

2. The niconico broadcast on the 25th will be about the upcoming SW seiyuu event and Geten no Hana: Yume Akari. There are no plans to reveal new SW4 info in the broadcast.

3. Defeated generals may drop healing items. Healing items can also be obtained from rice bales.

4. Someone asks if there will be a different outfit for Kaihime and the answer is that there will be DLCs in the future and a different side of Kaihime will be shown.

5. Some parts of the unique NPCs’ outfits will be available in CAW. (The question mentioned that Kojima Yatarou and from a quick search, it seems like he was spotted in the demos and has a unique helmet.)

6. Magoichi isn’t wearing a hood, he’s wearing a mantle. (The question asks if he’s wearing a hood and if yes, will there be scenes of him with the hood up.) The mantle sports the three-legged crow motif.

7. On whether or not there will be affection lines in Mercenary Mode like the ones in DW: “It depends on the character, but it seems like there may be characters who will softly whisper sweet nothings(?) to you 😊”

8. The design for the hand towel that comes with Gamecity’s limited edition of SW4 is still being developed and will be announced in the near future. (The questions asked if it will feature Takatora and the first part of the answer was ‘when we asked the person in charge, the answer was ‘O-Of course!’. But that part was followed by a ‘To answer this seriously… it’s still being developed’, so it’s not certain that it’s going to be Takatora.)

9. There will be no more C1 attack. It is replaced by godspeed action.

10. There may be more collaborations with ANA, similar to the video of Kiyomasa and Kumamoto that was shown last year, but they cannot confirm or announce anything.

11. Follow-up on the question about affection lines: someone asks if Katsuie will have such lines too or will the lines be mostly from the good-looking and popular characters. The answer is to play and find out for ourselves the “sugar level” of each character’s lines.

12. There are currently no plans to release the game on any consoles other than PS3 and PS Vita.

#5 - 26th Feb

1. The amount of edit parts and items in SW4’s CAW mode won’t be less than DW7 Empire’s.

2. Hanbei and Kanbei will appear a lot in the Chugoku story mode. (They wanted to give the ‘play the game and find out’ answer, but the development team said ‘yes, they’ll appear a lot!’. Hanbei’s seiyuu also chimed in to confirm.)

3. More characters will be unlocked as you progress in Musou Mode (無双演武). (The question asked if characters will be playable via DLC, since the number of starting characters seemed low.)

4. According to the development team, Toyohisa likes cats too.

5. For the PS Vita version, you can give orders to the partner character by using the buttons. The touchscreen function is for something else which will be revealed in the future.

6. There are currently no plans to sell the anime disc separately from the Anime/Treasure Box.

7. The main roles for Musashi, Kojiro and Okuni will be in Mercenary Mode, where they will support the player character. However, they will appear in certain regional modes too. (The question didn’t mention Goemon, but that doesn’t necessarily mean this answer doesn’t apply to him too.)

8. Koshosho’s hair isn’t a wig, it’s her real hair.

9. The range for shockwave attacks won’t change as the character’s level increases. (I think they also said something about how the shockwave attacks will look better.)

10. New about Toshiie and Katsuie will be coming soon.

11. Kagetora won’t be playable, but he’ll have an important role.

12. The right side of the morale gauge is divided into three. Those parts will increase the enemy camp’s strength. (I assume it means something like when the morale gauge reaches a certain level, the enemy camp will become more powerful.)

#6 - 27th Feb

1. The question asks if it’s possible to switch out the anime blu-ray for other exclusive items but the answer just says that there will be other exclusive things included in the Gamecity limited editions.

2. Cross-save is possible. It’s possible to play on the PS3 at home, and the continue on the PS Vita when you leave the house. Certain software may be required.

3. Currently, the game isn’t packaged with any console.

4. Yukimura’s SW1 costume is included in the first round of special DLC.

5. They can’t say when the third PV will be released but there will be some news in a few days.

6. Q: Can Katakura Kojuro’s glasses be switched on and off? A: It’s his trademark, so it can’t be switched off. His glasses are a part of his face.

7. Someone asked if Yukimura’s SW1 alt costume will be released too and the staff said that they’ll have to ask (the dev team, I guess) tomorrow.

8. Currently they have no plans to release Oichi’s and Masamune’s old moveset for CAW, but the Chronicles protagonists’ movesets will be available.

9. The weapon that can be equipped is fixed for each character. CAW officers can equip any weapon.

10. Currently there are no plans to release SW2 and SW3 outfits as DLC.

11. For CAW, there are three different base voices. The pitch of each base voice can be adjusted as high or low as you like.

12. The question asks if there will be gaiden stages or gaiden DLCs but the answer only says that more info about DLCs will be released soon (and to tell them what you would like to see via product feedback forms.)

#7 - 28th Feb
1. The third PV won’t be released in the store demos. It will be announced in various places next week. It should be available to watch in stores by the end of next week. (Actually, I’m not sure if the ‘announced next week’ part is referring to the third PV or just new info in general.)

2. Boob sizes are adjustable in CAW. (To be exact, the question asks if boob sizes are adjustable and the answer is ‘yes, the settings for female characters can be adjusted in detail.)

3. Excluding repeated questions, they have about 50-60 questions in line.

[CM break to announce that the design for the hand towel that comes with the Gamecity limited edition set has been released. (It’s not Takatora).]

4. The exclusive costumes for various stores can be bought after three months, but the price has yet to be decided.

5. All the store exclusives will be released as paid DLCs later.

6. Another question about DLC prices which are not fixed yet.

7. There will be gaiden scenarios. More info about them will be released in the future.

8. The character select dialogue will change depending on the partner character.

#8 - 3rd March

1. Someone suggests that they don’t answer the questions if the info is already available on the official site or in magazines. They replied that their aim is to convey the correct info to those who don’t have it. Depending on what the questions are, they will still answer.

2. Someone says that they’ll rather the staff concentrate on making the game rather than doing stuff like collaborations, anime and manga. The answer is that the development team is concentrating fully on the game. Collaborations, anime and merchandise are handled by different people.

#9 - 7th March

The staff answered a bunch of questions today.

1. Someone mentioned that in one of the CAW screenshot, the created character has Wang Yi’s hairstyle, so would other DW hairstyles be available too? The answer is that there aren’t any hairstyles that are exactly the same as DW ones but there may be some that are close.

2. Unlike DW7E, created characters cannot be shared.

3. It is possible to achieve 1000 KOs in the Vita version, in both solo and co-op play.

4. Enemy generals can use godspeed actions too, although they may not use it frequently. If you guard at the right time, you can repel their attack.

5. None of the characters’ heights have changed since SW3.

6. Someone mentioned that Munenori looks younger compared to SWC2. The staff said that he wasn’t made younger, but since this is his debut on the PS3, maybe that’s why his complexion looks better.

7. Each save file can have up to 20 created characters.

8. The concept for Munenori’s design was that of a casually dressed swordsman. He may seem carefree at a first glance, but a more careful look will show that he’s not to be underestimated.

9. Naotora was based on Ishihara Satomi, whom Koinuma likes.

10. Yoshimoto’s moveset has been improved.

11. There won’t be weapon weight in SW4. Weapon speed will depend on your action proficiency. (I’m not sure if this refers to weapon proficiency or character level.)

12. The collaboration glasses can be prescription glasses.

13. They decide on which characters to include by first deciding on the story they want to tell, and then selecting the characters that are involved. Requests from fans may influence their decision too.

14. Currently there are no plans to release generic outfits in the past games as DLC for CAW.

15. Created characters can only be the main character in Mercenary Mode (I think it means they can’t be your partner in battle). Unlike DW7E, there is no officer replacement.

16. There will be BGM DLCs.

17. For the clan crests and kanji in CAW mode, the game will have about 100 clan crests and 200 kanji.

They also answered a few questions in the afternoon.

1. They answered a couple of questions from Sakon’s VA. One answer hinted that Kojuro will have an event in Mercenary Mode where he’s unlike his usual cool self. Another one says that there won’t be a glasses option for Nene but hints that she may get a female teacher DLC costume. (Basically they answer halfway and then go ‘We can’t tell you more! You can ask Koinuma at the seiyuu event tomorrow’. They also addressed him as Sakon-dono ahaha)

2. Split-screen co-op play is available for Musou Mode and Free Mode.

3. The insect-like things flying out during Yoshitsugu’s attack in the first PV are butterflies. They’re based on his clan crest.

4. The ratio of words spoken by Kagekatsu to words spoken by Kanetsugu is roughly 1:50.

#10 - 10th March

1. The tv version of the OVA is the “complete” version with additional part(s) that have yet to be announced. When it’s aired, there will also be a part where the voice actors appear (probably something like a commentary section).

2. There will be castles in SW4 that were not in SW3.

3. Hanbei probably won’t be in the OVA.

4. Musou ougi is part of a character’s moveset, so it won’t be possible to give a created character someone’s moveset and a different person’s musou ougi. But the kanji that appears during musou ougi can be customised.

5. Mitsuhide attack type has been changed from normal to godspeed. There are also a lot of other characters whose attack type have been changed.

6. It’ll be possible to take screenshots on the Vita version since it’s already an existing function on the Vita. But the PS3 does not have this function so it won’t be possible on the PS3.

7. The weapon system in SW4 is not like SW2’s or SW3’s. The weapon capabilities depends on the skills.

8. Sanada Masayuki is a generic, but he looks even more grumpy/sullen than usual.

9. There are two types of missions: those that are necessary to clear the battle and bonus missions that are up to the player to discover and complete. (I think the first part just means that those missions will pop up as the stage progresses but completing them successfully probably won’t be a criteria to win the stage, just like SW3.)

10. Unlike Shin Gundam Musou, it’s won’t be possible to adjust the stage difficulty after completing it.

11. This one is just to assure the asker that they’ll have no problems with playing SW4 even if they’ve only played SWC2 in the past.

12. This one is something about the calligraphy that was apparently shown during the seiyuu event. Each character has a different calligraphy style, which was decided upon by considering their personality and characteristics. Each word was the individually written out and scanned.

13. Someone asked for recommendations on which stories to play and what order to play them in. The staff recommended “Everything!”. Especially the Sanada brothers’ story which will make you cry (it made them cry).

14. As for play order, they recommend starting with the Takeda and Oda stories, then play each story as you unlock them. It’ll be easier to understand the connection between the stories this way.

#11 - 11th March

1. There aren’t any more regional CMs other than what’s already on the official site.

2. There are currently no plans to broadcast the anime OVA anywhere other than the planned tv broadcast. (For example, no nicovideo broadcast.)

3. Q. Hanbei is not included in the blood donation posters, is it because he’s sick? A. No, they didn’t think of that. The choice of characters is due to the requests from each location, and decided via discussion between both parties. (For those who don’t know, the blood donation thing was announced during the niconico presentation. AFAIK, the posters are only for display and won’t be distributed to those who donate blood. EDIT: some locations will distribute the posters to those who want them and, presumably, if they donated blood.)

4. In the staff’s personal opinion, what distinguishes SW4 from SW3 is how it’s arranged (I guess this refers to the story mode) and how it’s closer to actual history, especially the character deaths.

5. Other than the death scenes, there are also plenty of both well-known stories and small references scattered all over.

#12 - 12th March

Some corrections to past answers.

1. The insect-like things that appear at the end of Yoshitsugu’s charge attack are dragonflies, and not butterflies as they previously said. They used the dragonfly motif for him so that it’ll be different from Nouhime’s attack. The dragonfly also reflects the ‘fleeting’ part of Yoshitsugu’s image.

2. For CAW, there are four base voices each for male and female, and not three as they previously said. The pitch for all the base voices can be adjusted.

3. As apology for the mistakes, they shared a tidbit about the game. The effects that appear at the end of the true musou in SW3 (for example, Yukimura has sakura effects) will appear at the end of the musou gokui in SW4.

#13 - 17th March

1. This questions has been answered before: created officers can only be the main character in Mercenary Mode (ie they can’t be a partner character).

2. Non-created characters (eg Yukimura, Oichi etc) can of course be the partner character in Mercenary Mode, but they can also be the main character if you fulfill certain requirements.

3. There are no plans to release the BGM from the pachinko slot game as DLC.

4. The concept for Gracia’s special skill is ‘magical girl’.

5. Sakon’s scarf matches Takatora’s - red and blue, but they weren’t meant to be a set. (The question asked if Sakon received his scarf from Takatora.)

6. In Mercenary Mode, when your friendship with the other characters increase, the battle dialogue with those characters will also change. This isn’t limited to just praise quotes, but other lines as well.

7. I think this one was answered before too - Masamune’s and Oichi’s SW1 movesets won’t be available in CAW.

8. Q: Masamune seems to have become fatter compared to previous games, or is it just me? A: Kojuro has been taking care of him, and maybe he did become fatter.

9. Personally, they feel that SW4 is closer to actual history and the various interviews that have been conducted recently also state the same thing. (This is in response to someone saying that they’re not fond of stories that are too fictional.)

10. They’ve been playing the Vita version of the game recently, and could achieve 1000 kills a few times. The cutscenes look good on the console too. (This is in response to someone asking for their impression of the Vita version.)

11. Someone asks if there’s any character who has changed a lot. The staff answered that this will be a spoiler but yes, they get the feeling (that one? some? has changed). They were surprised at one scene with a certain character.
