Thanks. Now I am crying.

No, it was amazing. Beautiful. I loved how Demora wanted to look more like Pavel. And the story about tulips... and when Sulu told her the real story.

And the hint on Demora/Jo? I think you´ve created a new OTP for me.

But still, I´m crying ;(

Aww don't cry! And haha yeah, about Demora wanting to look like Pavel when writing this story I was hoping it would really come across from the POV of an adopted little Asian girl and...that was supposed to be ~subtle~ commentary on race and current standards of beauty. (And how, for example, it seems so much easier for people to wax lyrical about the way Pavel looks) Lol. And then for Hikaru it's like...just because they're both Asian doesn't mean they have to be related! Well yeah I just really wanted to write about adopted children.

Uhh, okay sorry for the nonsensical rambling. Thank you for reading! And oh man it feels pretty awesome to have people discover the potential of Demora/Jo. :D

Actually, I always thought it was easier to wax lyrical about the way Pavel looks because of the curls, combined with how excitable and enthusiastic he comes off in reboot.

Also, I have ordinary black hair and ordinary brown eyes and I would never trade either for any other colour. :D

That's definitely true, and because of the excitable and enthusiastic manner of the bunch he's the one who has had the most er, lingering descriptions of physical attributes. Like um, for the other characters the descriptions are there because they serve a particular purpose, but also that waxing lyrical about Uhura or Sulu's physical appearance tends to come off as too fetishistic and borderline offensive. Because I'm personally not attracted to curly hair talk of Chekov's hair tends to come off as fetishistic to me too but as it doesn't have the potential to offend the way someone talking at length about Uhura's skin does, it's sort of like safe fetishism everyone can indulge in. Of course this is NOT to say that people should stop talking about Pavel's curls, it's just general observation that his looks get a lot more attention compared to the rest of the characters (Kirk, Spock, McCoy etc included), and am merely curious to know if it's down to a standard of beauty thing or that there are just that many people out there who love ( ... )

Aaaauuuuuuuuuugh.

I put off reading this because I knew I would get extremely emotional about it. I teared up when Demora made Pavel cry and I've been wibbling my way through the rest of this. Auuuugh. You broke my heart and gave all my head-canon for Demora some definition and. and. and.

*weeps a little in the corner*

This really was beautiful and so, so wonderful. ♥

...PS. Dear self,

Hahaha it's okay. The math test part is my favourite, because it's so ridiculous yet true? Teen!Demora hits the jackpot of teenage rebellion by... intentionally failing mathematics. It's almost cracky but I'd be hard pressed to find anything else that would crush Pavel on such a personal level. ;___;

And haha yay head canon. :D I can't believe there's a place called Russian Hill in San Francisco. All I can think of is OMG. IT'S TOO PERFECT. THEY'LL NEVER STAY ANYWHERE ELSE.

Heh, thank you! :D

OMG what an excellent community! Thanks for telling me, I'll definitely make a post there. :D

And haha it being a story about a girl I really wanted to talk about period woes because it's so much fun to mention something that in our current world is still v. hushed up.

Thank you for reading!

*wibble*

This piece is so painstakingly human. I could almost reach out and grab Demora in the end. And speaking of ends...wow. Once my brain is functioning on all circuits, I'll think of a word that better describes your story other than...wow.

I LOVE YOU.

You don't know how much seeing this has brightened my day! I love your Demora, and I love even more the relationship you've built up between her and her fathers. :DDDDDDD But, Demora is the greatest, and I wish I was just like her.

she thinks of their identical strawberry red tipped noses and it dawns on her that they have always looked alike. May I say that this line is especially beautiful.

Demora's such a fun character to play with! Joanna McCoy too. In fact after writing this I'm a little in love with Jo myself. I sort of see her as really boyish looking with Jeanette Winterson as her personal hero and...that's kinda hot.

And awww thank you! That, and the first line of this fic are my favourites lol.

I know, I had a lot of fun with her in the fic I wrote her into. Jo was really fun, too. But...may I ask, what is a mooncup? I am missing something here?

Yeah, the first fine is brilliant too.

Hahah er...okay I thought it was a generic term but apparently it's a brand name for a type of menstrual cup. I was thinking of something 23rd century girls would use during their periods, and pads and tampons just seemed too unfriendly to the environment. So uh, mooncups! Or the Keeper. ...I liked the reusability of it enough to think it would be a lasting concept.
