Last night was a great night in which several great speeches and two HISTORICALLY good ones were made at that podium! Madeline ALbright was her usual brilliant self and wrote a speech that sums up why this nation cannot another 4 years of Mc Same. But Bill Clinton and John Kerry stole the night. Yours isn't the first allusion I've heard to Lincoln regarding Obama's campaign. They were talking about it the other day on NPR. They were also discussing his pointed choice in launching his campaign from Springfield, source of one of the worst race riots in our history.

I think you can't get where he is without that extreme ambition, but I like to think the ambition has a purpose beyond the power and the office (unlike McCain who has apparently stated that he wants it for IT). I think Obama wants it for the good he can do with it. How lucky we are to be getting such a candidate at the beginning of his career rather than the end, when cynicism and special interests have had more than their fair swipe at him. :)
