Dammit, the landlord rented out the apartment he was "holding" for me because apparently I took a day too long to get the paperwork in (you know, because of Thanksgiving).

So now my move-in date isn't until the 8th or 9th.

Hooray for living with my parents for a week.

This landlord is sounding more and more shady every time you mention something. Did you already give him/her money for a security deposit?

My advice is to document EVERYTHING. Insist that the landlord is there do document everything on the initial walk through so that they don't stick you with something later. Keep receipts for payment every month. Know your rights as a tenant and don't let them screw with you.
