last night my roommate showed me the stars...

...cause i went to the observatory with her, of course. she used that super cool laser that can blind pilots to move the telescope and find one of the stars, and then we looked through the huge telescope and got to see Jupiter... i agree with her that i'm going to be much more likely to go next semester now that i know what's up there and how cool ( Read more... )

Are you taking astronomy next semester? That was one of my required lab sciences in undergrad and I LOVED it!! And I hate lab sciences. But those were just the coolest labs. It was one of my favorite classes I ever took there, more so than any for my majors probably. Partly because it was freakin' awesome stuff that we learned (and I'm proud to be a nerd) and partly because it WASN'T for my major so I knew I wouldn't have to build on it, if that makes sense. I could just enjoy it for the sake of learning, without worrying about every having to use it again. Good times with telescopes.

actually, i'm taking geology next semester- my roommate took astronomy this semester and i'm considering it for my other science credit- but i just went along for the fun of it (and cause i was avoiding work, of course) and really really liked it.

ooh geology sounds interesting too. I wanted to take that as my second because I thought it'd be easier, but I couldn't work it into my schedule so I ended up stuck with biology. Blech.
