General Information
As you may have figured out already, Yonsei Academy is an RPG that is loosely based on the series Harry Potter. While we have opted out of strictly following the plotlines of the series, a few things have been kept the same for the sake of theme and authenticity. All of the house names (Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw) have been kept in tact. Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, the story of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named (Voldemort) has been kept intact in its chronology and location (UK) - it is assumed that the effects of his reign of terror were felt globally by the wizarding community, thus Yonsei students' families may be aware of what happened 15 years ago. Whether or not his followers (or other Dark Lords in waiting) are planning a resurgence is yet to be discovered, and will unfold over the course of the game. Due to the fact that we have kept Voldemort in the Yonsei universe, we would like to caution all potential muns against creating backgrounds and histories closely resembling that of Tom Riddle.
Also - while the Harry Potter series takes place in the 90s, Yonsei is set in modern society (2010). As such, there are certain things available for use by students, teachers, etc that weren't in the series (cell phones, laptops, television, etc.), hence the use of Live Journal, etc. Such devices are able to function in the school through the use of magic to offset the dysfunction that sometimes occurred when such products began to find their way into the wizarding world.
While we have a few plots in mind that we plan to put into play for the entire community, we STRONGLY ENCOURAGE the development of personal storylines and plots, whether they be solo or between muses. If you have an idea for a school wide plot, however, please contact the mods for approval before implementing them. Any plot involving Death Eaters, Dark Lords, death/murder, pregnancy, or political changes must be run by the mods for approval.
House Communities
One of the first things you'll notice upon inspection of Yonsei is that each House has been given its own community. As in the series, each community represents the housing that Yonsei Academy offers. Each community represents a dormitory building located on Yonsei's campus - Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. While there is no way to password protect these communites the way they are in the novel series, we have opted to make each community moderated. The only members of each community should be a resident of that house, if you are a Ravenclaw, for example, there is no reason you should be attempting to join the Slytherin community. The house communities have been created to encourage loyalty between residents, encourage friendships and as a means of communication. Also, the communities are available for in-house role playing (For instance, if two muses are in the Hufflepuff common room, the thread would take place at the Hufflepuff community), the development of housewide plots, and announcements to the house as a whole. Once the heads of houses are chosen (remember, only professors can be heads of houses) they will act as the co-moderator for the community. Clearly, all posts at each community should be locked.
Quidditch Community
The Quidditch community will be where any news pertaining to Quidditch will be posted. This includes announcements of games, injuries, points, etc.
RP/OOC Communities
These communities will function in the same way that they do at other RPG's. The RP community is the place to post RP Logs and scene threads - classes, threads between muses of different houses, clubs, etc. There really aren't any restrictions on what threads are posted here. The ooc community is where out-of-character notes should be posted. Please refrain from posting anything that doesn't have to do with the game in the ooc community. Main Community
The main community will be where all information pertaining to the game will be posted. Only moderators have the ability to post at the main comnunity. The information provided will include, but is not limited to, news, weather updates, house points, school wide plots, trips to Yonsmeade, etc. Also, the main community is where important information pertaining to need-to-know tidbits for gameplay will be posted, i.e, the list of magical spells. Everyone must be a member of this community in order to stay updated.
Additional Rules
♜ Plots involving pregnancy are forbidden unless prior approval has been granted from the Admin. We expect that if you request to play such a storyline that you must keep the admin updated every week of the baby and involved party's development. This includes muse's plots and their own self-development. It must also follow real time and a full nine months are required.
♜ Plots involving death, murder, or crime are forbidden unless prior approval has been granted from the Admin. If a storyline involves a student or staff member committing a crime or murder, then it is assumed that the mun will follow the realistic course of action which would involve expulsion from the school/dismissal from the game, pending trial and eventual imprisonment in Azkaban.
