Man, it's been a while since I made a long philosophical update. I need to get inspired for one of those again. Come, inspiration! Leave your dark cave and envelope me!

Inspiration!

Inspiration...

...Inspiration?

Hello?

Inspiration is overrated. People tend to write lengthy, serious entries about philosophical stuff only when they're feeling unhappy with what they have. It's hard to care about how the universe works when you're enjoying it.

. . .

I feel indirectly offended by that comment.

The nature of (self-perceived) beauty does not intrigue you?
What if you enjoy writing?

The nature of (self-perceived) beauty does not really intrigue me. Self-perceived beauty intrigues me. Which is why I rarely update my LJ with non-fiction.

Not that I don't sometimes enjoy examining the Wherefore of things. Right now I'm simply subscribing to a "if it ain't, broke don't fix it" mentality.

Also, I believe writing to be for some grander purpose than to simply endlessly debate topics. I don't enjoy writing unless I am working towards that purpose, that realization. Philosophically meandering for the hell of it doesn't interest me much.

That just sounds to me like your personal preference. I personally find the interactions of things in the world very beautiful, and thinking about them can give new ways to look at things and allow me to reach conclusions that are not obvious.

I do not like to indulge in beauty unless I am fairly certain that it is rational. This is not necessary from the perspective of a normal person, but I was born with a sophisticated mind.
