I’m totally in love with your interpretation of the premise: “S/he is alone at night, and s/he imagines (reminisces) being with the one s/he loves (loved). In his/her imagination (memory), they went to the sea and now are wrapped in each other's arms. Thus, all that is sung about is his/her wishful thinking or reminiscences.”

Having the narrator alone at night and reminiscing the embrace of a lover, remembering the the sweet words once whispered into his/her ear is such a compelling image. It gives me chills. 🥰
