The faintest hues of orange and purple started painting the marble building as a tall male with spiky hair exited. He bid his classmates goodbye before hopping down the stairs and heading towards the edge of campus.

Yoon Doojoon hummed a light tune as he walked, hands clutching the straps of the backpack. On his way back home, he made a detour at a small, hole-in-the-wall café and came out with a bag of freshly baked cookies.

The rest of the walk home had Doojoon with an extra bounce in his step and a silly grin on his face as he thought of his wifey and princess waiting for him.

A few more blocks of walking, Doojoon arrived at the apartment complexes. He nodded at the guard in the lobby before entering the elevator to the eighth floor.

“Yeobo, I’m home!” he shouted, toeing off his shoes. The living room smelled delicious. He wondered what was for dinner.

A raven haired boy poked his head out of the kitchen. “You’re back,” he said, shuffling over to kiss the taller man. Doojoon’s arms automatically wound around the other man’s waist and pulled him closer.

“Where’s Jieun-ah?” he asked, leaning his forehead against the other’s.

“Mmm, watching Aladdin,” said Yoseob, peeling away and jerking his head towards the TV. Doojoon turns and spots his princess bouncing along to the Prince Ali song in front of the screen. A low chuckle escapes his throat.

Doojoon pulls Yoseob back into his arms props his chin on the smaller man’s shoulder. “How many times has she seen this part today?”

Yoseob let out an exasperated sigh. “Too many. I think I know the song by heart now.” Doojoon laughed.

At that moment the little girl in front of the TV turned away from the screen and started looking around. “Prince Ali! Prince Ali!”

Yoseob sighed and untangled himself from Doojoon. “That’s my cue.”

Doojoon watched with amusement as Yoseob bent down to the little girl’s level, trying to talk to her. When she continued to shout Prince Ali, Doojoon decided then to intervene.

“Hey princess,” said Doojoon, sitting down on the floor next to Jieun so that he could be at her level. “Look what I’ve got~” he said, taking a cookie out of the bag.

Jieun’s eyes sparkled. “Cookie!” she screamed. Doojoon grinned and handed the treat over to her tiny hands.

The man on her other side frowned. “Yah, Doojoon, it’s almost dinner! You’re ruining her appetite.”

“Lighten up, it’s just a cookie,” said Doojoon, grabbing one for himself. “You want one?” Yoseob rolled his eyes but took it anyways, which caused Doojoon to grin.

After a cookie or two more (and three rewinds of Prince Ali) Yoseob got up to finish making dinner, leaving Doojoon in the living room to play with Jieun.

Yoseob smiled, hearing Jieun’s laughter echo in the room next door. Doojoon never ceases to amaze him with his ability with kids.

The stew was coming to a slow boil when Yoseob decided to turn off the stove. He wiped his hands on the pink apron (that Doojoon insisted they buy when they first moved in together) before taking it off and shouting that dinner was ready.

Doojoon walked in carrying Jieun in his arms. Both of them were grinning and had rosy cheeks. Yoseob looked up from setting the table to give them both an affectionate look.

Once Jieun was situated in her seat and happily feeding herself, Yoseob turned to Doojoon and the two chatted about their day.

After dinner, Doojoon and Jieun returned to playing in the living room while Yoseob did the dishes. When he finished, he joined them and the two men took turns hiding a stuff Curious George and getting Jieun to look for it.

“Jieun-ah~ where’s George-george?” asked Yoseob, after stuffing the stuffed monkey under Doojoon’s shirt. The front of Doojoon’s shirt was protruding out oddly and yet Jieun was looking everywhere but at the obvious.

“Jieun-ah, look here~” said Doojoon, pointing to the lump at his stomach. Jieun waddled over and pulled the shirt up.

“George-george!” she cried, pulling the stuffed money out and giggling. Both Doojoon and Yoseob joined in, laughing at her cute antics.

By the time it was 8:30, Jieun started yawning and Yoseob decided it was bedtime for her. After she fell asleep, the two men collapsed on the couch and heaved a huge sigh of relief.

“I’m so tired,” whined Yoseob, snuggling up to Doojoon.

Doojoon chuckled. “She’s just like you, endless amount of energy,” he said, burying his nose in the younger man’s hair.

“Not really,” said Yoseob, poking Doojoon’s side. “I get tired now. Oh my god, I’m old,” he moaned.

Doojoon tilted the younger man’s face up. “No you’re not,” he muttered before closing the distance between their lips. Yoseob sighed and crawled into Doojoon’s lap, wrapping his arms around the older man’s neck while Doojoon’s hands automatically went to Yoseob’s waist to hold the other man steady.

The two continued to kiss slowly, simply content with the feel of lips on lips contact.

After a while, Yoseob finally pulled back. “I need to finish my paper,” he muttered, breathing heavily.

“Fine…” Yoseob planted one last kiss on Doojoon’s lips and then slipped off his lap. “Don’t you have a lab report to do too?” he asked, standing up and smoothing down his shirt.

His lover groaned. “Don’t remind me.”

Yoseob laughed and held out his hand. “Come on, you lazy bum. We both have an early class tomorrow. The earlier we sleep, the better.”

Doojoon heaved a dramatic sigh before reaching for the outstretched hand and letting himself be pulled to his feet.

It was almost ten when the door bell rang. Yoseob had just returned to their workroom with a steaming cup of tea and placed it down in front of the older man.

“It must be Kikwang. I’ll get it. You stay here and finish your report,” he said. Doojoon deflated and lowered his head.

“Yes, dear,” he grumbled, going back to flipping through the textbook.

Yoseob padded out of the room towards the front door. “Hey Kwangie,” said Yoseob after opening the door.

Kikwang gave the other man a tired smile. “Hey, sorry, did I wake you?”

Yoseob shook his head and led Kikwang down the hall. “Nah, I was still up finishing my bio paper.” He opened the door quietly and watched as Kikwang walked past him to where Jieun was sleeping. The other man gently picked her up, trying hard not to wake her up.

Yoseob walked over with Jieun’s jacket and draped it around her tiny shoulders.

“Thanks,” whispered Kikwang as he adjusted the jacket to wrap firmly around the girl in his arms.

“I get out early tomorrow. You want me to watch her again?” whispered Yoseob as he walked his friend out. Kikwang shook his head.

“No, it’s okay. I close tomorrow so I’ll probably drop her off around 5. Is that okay?” Kikwang saw Yoseob thinking about it and added, “If you’re busy I could drop her off at Hyunseung’s…”

Yoseob shook his head. “No, it’s fine. I’ll be home tomorrow.” He handed Jieun’s bag over to Kikwang. “Drive safely.”

“Thanks Yoseob. Good night.”

Yoseob watched Kikwang and Jieun enter the elevator before closing the door.

Doojoon looked up from his paper when Yoseob reentered their workroom. “Kikwang left?”

“Yeah. He’s dropping Jieun-ah off again tomorrow at 5.” Doojoon nodded. He dropped his pen and leaned back into his chair, stretching.

“He’s looking more and more tired every time I see him,” said Yoseob, suddenly. Doojoon looked at the worry etched on his lover’s face and motioned the younger man over. Yoseob shuffled around the desk and let Doojoon pull him into his lap.

“I know babe, but no one said being a single father was easy,” he said, kissing Yoseob’s forehead.

“I wish - ” Doojoon cut Yoseob off with a kiss.

“You’re tired. Come on, let’s go to bed. I’ll give you a massage.”

Doojoon caught Yoseob’s eyes shifting to the half finished report on his desk. “What about your report?” The older man shook his head.

“Seungho-hyung just texted me. He says the lab is cancelled tomorrow so I have an extra day to work on it.” Yoseob nodded and then let out a yawn. Doojoon smiled at the cute sight.

That night, with only the light from the moon illuminating their room, Doojoon held Yoseob close and whispered those three words he would never get tired of saying. Not now, and not in the next life.

Because now that he’s finally found the courage to say what his heart feels, he was never going to stop.

“I love you, Yang Yoseob. I love you.”

Baby Jieun is based on my 2 and a half year old niece. She's super adorable with her obsession with Curious George and Aladdin. And yes, she really does love the Prince Ali song, and watches that part over and over and over again every day. It's quite adorable actually.
