Seduction
Weep not for little Leonie,
Abducted by a French Marquis!
Though loss of honour was a wrench,
Just think how it's improved her French.

IV. TIME AND ETERNITY.
VII.
SETTING SAIL.
Exultation is the going
Of an inland soul to sea, --
Past the houses, past the headlands,
Into deep eternity!
Bred as we, among the mountains,
Can the sailor understand
The divine intoxication
Of the first league out from land?

I recently purchased a recording of Steve Reich's "Music for 18 Musicians." I like to listen to it with the lights off, my eyes closed, and I imagine that I'm riding a bicycle through a busy city at night. It brings a sense of escape and peace...both are welcomed.

Brotherhood
Homage to Claudius Ptolemy
I am a man: little do I last
and the night is enormous.
But I look up:
the stars write.
Unknowing I understand:
I too am written,
and at this very moment
someone spells me out.
Octavio Paz
