Sirius is the largest and most brilliant star in the heavens. It situated in the eye of the greater dog Canis Major, therefore it is known as the 'Dog Star'. It is located in the constellation Canis Major and is 8.6 light years from Earth. Sirius is visible in the Northern hemisphere evening sky from November through April.
