Of Christmas parties and cookies

So. One of the great things about working in the UK is the prevalence of holiday parties. Everybody at an office or a shop gets together and goes out for one night. I love these cookies. Though the more I make them, the more I realize just why my mother had an electric mixer.

Hmm, I'm going to have to try these for my mother - she loves oatmeal cookies.

Open-ended gift swaps may be a US thing - I've seen them done as grab-bags at parties, for office parties. There's also a variant called a Yankee swap, which turns it into a game, with stealing of gifts and the like: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yankee_swap

See, I grew up in the States and I still never heard of it. And it makes it a little odder since this is in the UK and all.

Can the whole cranberries I have in the freezer be used? Or must they be dried?

I have honestly never tried. I mean, it's basically just an Oatmeal Raisin cookie recipe that's been adapted. It's possible that fresh cranberries would have too much moisture for the recipe. You can try it, though, and report back?
