*googles* . . . Okay, that was exactly what I expected, but that doesn't make it any less depressing. ;_;
I have yet to watch Metropolis, I've been wanting to for a while now though! And this was really your first silent movie? Maybe you should get a hold of some of the Charlie Chaplin silent movies (not necessarily the short sketches though), I loved those as a child! :) Or the last silent movie I've seen (at a silent movie festival with live music during all of the movie, that was so great! <3) was Minato no nihon musume, I really liked it. Maybe you can find it with a bit of googling in case you'd like to discover more, I have no idea though whether it's available online or not. :)
Yea, my first though when I saw that post was...with Safe search on or off? Though I wasn't expecting the results be so...dramatically gender biased...so much for feminism ;_;
^^; yea, it was...I didn't actually realise it was silent when I borrowed it, I found it through following random wikipedia references when I was looking up some other sci-fi thing and thought it sounded interesting, and was a seminal dystopian sci-fi movie apparently...it was pretty interesting how the actors really made up for lack of dialogue by with gestures, body langauge and expression etc.
