It's when the shaded areas gets too dark causing a black outline. The same effect can be seen if you increase the contrast in photshop.

Ah, looking good! I like the colors you chose. They go together well and give her a lot of personality. What are you going to do for the eyes?

I went closer to Wen's original coloring style. In fact, I use the color picker and use his illustrations for reference. For the eyes, I'll try to get it looking closer to the concept.
