Writer's Block: Conversion Rate

Yes, for about the past, oh... twelve years, off and on. In order: Catholicism, Judaism, paganism, Islam.

First there was the Catholic stage, brought on by private Catholic school. I blame the fever. One night, I was sick; prayed to Jesus; got better. Voila! Plus I was attracted to all the rituals, Mass, rosary, you name it, I wanted it.

The difference is, by the time you enter Judaism, you won't even notice the difference this formality will make. With Islam, the journey uphill begins after the shahada. You need to have a lot of faith at the time to say it, to make it meaningful to you afterwards.

Very well put! I was being unnecessarily snarky. It's just so complicated, not just all the learning, but the thorny issues too- I'd like to convert Orthodox so nobody would have any question about my Jewishness, but there's not really any point considering it seriously because gay rights is for me what abortion is for some people. I guess I will have the same problem whatever religion I wind up with. If any. It's extremely discouraging when you realize all the ones with a history also have a history of gay-bashing.

if you look carefully at the history, it becomes quite obviuos, why.

in fact, Islam, IMHO, has the most sensible approach, equating homosexuality to all other types of extramarital sex
