The other day, I caught part of a special called "7 Days that changed New Orleans." The point of view of the show was from the local reporters, looking back on the days after Katrina hit, about where they were and what they were doing with coverage, rescues, etc. It was nice to see the faces of familiar reporters (I can't stand to watch the ( Read more... )

I didn't see the special but I know what you mean. Yesterday I was packing for my new apartment and I found the note my dad wrote me when he and my brother drove back and tried to salvage things (the 2-3 days they were letting people in the week after). I don't think he actually expected to come out alive. It's strange because sometimes people will ask how things are and assume everything is fine and it's hard to say "well my family is still living with friends waiting on a building permit, no people aren't all back home, etc"
