As many of you know, I am a middle school Spanish teacher. I love the Spanish language, but without the culture and people it comes from, the language itself would be meaningless to me. Ever wanted to DO somthing about poverty?
Sometimes when I give a few dollars I wonder, am I doing any real good? The answer is yes, but it is so hard to believe when I can't see it. When I do an act of service I get to see immediate results and have a more direct connection to another human being.

1. I have been helping to start a new church in the Burlington area: St. Andrew’s Christian Church of Burlington. Sunday the 16th is our big launch. I am very excited and have put a lot of work into this church.
Some of our goals:
1.To ask the big questions of Faith and give people a space to say what they really feel and think

the honeymoon
It is the start of the school year. They call this period the Honeymoon, for good reason.
I am so excited about my curriculum; it is hard to get to sleep the first few nights. I am happy to see my colleagues and hear about their summers. I love the kids and they love me. We are all excited, even as we struggle to wake up on time and sadly kiss ( Read more... ) -
not just another inservice video
As I prepared myself for the onslaught of information that comes during the in-service before each school year, I was caught off guard by this video. I don't know how much of it I agree with, but for the most part it was a good reminder of what my job is about and what I might really be helping kids face in the future.

Summer vacation is over. This is a bitter sweet moment as I say goodbye to summer and hello to as job I truly love. I guess I can’t be sad in such a win-win situation. But...who doesn’t long for just one more swim, hike, BBQ or walk in the warm evening air.
