I have recently experienced a Wes Anderson renaissance. I have watched the Royal Tenenbaums, and the Life Aquatic in the last three days and have listened almost extensively to the soundtracks from those two movies for the whole last week. Oh man, yes, yes! I've been going through a similar re-awakening, though limited to Royal Tenenbaums...it's seriously one of my favourite movies ever...I love the sad / funny bittersweet aspects. And the attention to minutea in the production design. (I.e., the mounted Javelina head.) I don't think I was able to sit through the first Underworld film, but I hear you on random-fluff-violence-films. Oh, and Nico. I love love Nico. Hurrah to all of this.
