Nah, leave the scale out of the equation. It can lie.
When I was doing BJJ I didn't really drop that much weight, but I did drop a lot of fat and gained muscle. Stayed the same weight, but I looked slimmer (some) and felt alot better.
The scale is an evil intruder in a lifestyle change.
A good rule of thumb... COOK!!! Food cooked yourself is ALWAYS better than food bought. Better for you in general, you know what went into it, and the effort of preparing it gets you up and about as well.
As for working out, you know I'm all for it. I've had much more success with group fitness. My gym offers classes - everything from yoga to killer abs and cardio blast. If it's a weight issue, cardio workouts are great to focus on. they burn a lot of calories in addition to building strength and endurance. Plus, when you're in a class, you're more likely to stay put for the whole hour, and the classes will push you in ways you may not be likely to push yourself.
I started working out last May, and have been sketchy since September due to transportation issues; and I'm still probably around 50 lbs lighter, and still 3 sizes smaller, then I was when I started. I'm getting back to it starting tomorrow. In another 3 or 4 months I expect I may be hitting my target weight of
