#5 I enjoyed but was surprised by some of the racist-tinged comments within it? I've never noticed that in his other books so I might have interpreted incorrectly but it was a little jarring. #6 I loved, my dad lent it to me he said it was one of his favorites.
so far, i've read: tropic of cancer, henry miller call girl, jeanette angell and now i'm reading the kandy-kolored tangerine flake streamline baby by tom wolfe maybe another that i can't remember...
i fell in love with henry miller, and tom wolfe NEVER disappoints.
I'm actually working on a collection of stories right now that is somewhat Vonnegut inspired and Hocus Pocus gave me a lot of insight into writing so I'd say that was my favorite so far. I went to a Karen Russell reading with a friend of mine tonight and really want to read Swamplandia! the pieces she read were great. I keep meaning to read both henry miller and tom wolfe but haven't gotten around to it. I've been especially interested in reading science fiction, well written sex scenes and writers with a good sense of comedic dialogue for inspiration, might you have a recommendation?
The Facts Behind the Helsinki Roccamatios; by Yann Martel The Stories of Breece D'J Pancake; by Breece D'J Pancake Ishmael; by Daniel Quinn Everything Dark is a Doorway; John Alspaugh Be Here Now; Richard Alpert/Baba Ram Dass The Joyous Cosmology; by Alan Watts
The Stories of Breece D'J Pancake (birth-name btw) is absolutely brilliant.
