incredible mccall! i recognise some of these too, and also it's amazing how much they remind me of my own teenage journals, most of which got thrown out in the rain by fucked up old housemates as i was moving out of my first sharehouse, so they got mouldy and i had to throw them away. i love that kind of embarrassing earnestness of a teenager.

ugh that is awful! what terrible housemates. yeah, I didn't share a lot of the writing because I wanted to share this publicly and most of the writing from them are pretty rough secrets but maybe one day.

this is too great. i wish i could do the same but most of mine are just writing (i've never been such a great artist)

i love the "whisper" braid, but i'm most intrigued by your handwriting. the earliest looks like how i used to write, and then it turns into my roomate's handwriting... crazy!

god yes, journals forever!! holding on to my old journals inspires me to keep making more, because i hope to live another 20 years and another 20 after that, and i can only imagine what my 70 year-old self might think of the me now. it's so great having paper journals and sketchbooks. i'm kinda sad i've done so much of my diary-style writing online in the past ten years, because it's just not as fun reading on a computer screen as it is so touch pages and read your own handwriting. there's so much magic in it.
you were so cool as a teenager! i would have loved to be friends with you in high school.

you need to be!! she is a true genius. read the book "Cruddy" and let it blow your mind. i didn't mean to imply that your stuff is at all derivative of hers, but just that it reminds me of it in the best way possible.
