I am putting together a mixed cd for my fellow interns and the woman we are interning with at a Book and Paper Conservation Lab!
sooo, songs that fit into the following categories:
- BOOKS!
- PAPER
- HISTORY
- LIBRARIES
I've bolded the songs I definitely want to use. I want this to be something that everyone can kind of enjoy so kind of quiet, generally acceptable songs by people who don't necessarily listen to this kind of music. We usually listen to podcasts of
WXPN's Sleepy Hollow, so mellow is kind of key...
"Book of Flags" - Q and not U
"The Book of Love" - I was going to use the Magnetic Field's version, but then I found out the woman I work for LOVES Peter Gabriel, so the Peter Gabriel version
"Books About UFOs" - Husker Du
"Books Written For Girls" - Camera Obscura
"Everyday I Write the Book" - Elvis Costello
"Make Like Paper" - Red House Painter
"Misread" - Kings of Convenience
"My Favorite Book" - Stars
"Open Book" - Mates of State
"Paper Planes" - The Lucksmiths (esp. because there has been talk of making paper planes and launching them off the reading room balconies...)
"Paper Tiger" - Spoon
"Picture Book" - The Kinks
"Pressed in a Book" - The Shins
"Put the Book Back on the Shelf" - Belle & Sebastian
"Read, Eat, Sleep" - Books
"Shaking Paper" - Cat Power
"This Book is a Movie" - Spoon
"This Red Book" - Pinback
"Wrapped Up in Books" - Belle & Sebastian
