CAN I HAVE A MINUTE OF SILENCE. SOMEONE ACTUALLY WROTE ME JAEHEE?? MAD PROPS TO YOU, OKAY.
I LOVE this; I love how utterly visceral this is, how beautiful the imagery, and how it is built perfectly around a single moment. I think Jaehee is one of those absolutely fascinating characters because I never get the sense that she's 'villainous' per se, but more as if...her belief system failed her so completely that she had to build a new one from scratch and center her actions around that, instead. She seems genuinely contrite at the hurt caused by her actions, and yet, she's willing to go as far as it takes.
I love how there's so much character-work in such a short space, like her eye being 'trained' for jewelry through stolen magazines, because that is the only access she had to this world at the time. And how much of her is just the image; her movements, the way she holds herself, etc. How conscious she constantly is of having to do things perfectly, because she needs it to survive here.
