But it has to be a coincidence. L is long dead and buried and rotting; Light is certain of this, as certain as any number of unshakable truths he's ever known, as certain as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, and certain as the color of the sky and the written strokes of his own name. L is dead, Light saw to it himself. He was there when the detective breathed his last, felt the life slip out of his thin body. L is dead and this child, whoever he is, it has to be a coincidence. Or maybe a trick of the fae.
There's only way to find out for certain. Light readies his standard welcoming text and presses the button to send it.]

Welcome to Demeleier. My name is Ryuga Asahi and I am a member of Demeleier's welcoming committee.
[L's expression darkens, and looks strangely out-of-place on his young face. The name, Ryuga Asahi, sets off warning bells; half of it is his own, a false moniker he picked up when he first started investigating Light, and the other half is one that was commonly used as a code by the investigators. It could very well be a coincidence... but L isn't prepared to assume that, not when all he has to go on is a rudimentary guide. He holds the screen out to Belphegor so she can read with him as he peruses the information behind the link (he hastily puts the Rowan crown back on his head when he reads about its importance), the whole time mulling over the significance of those two seemingly common Japanese names

[Light reads the words on his screen and the skin at the back of his neck begins to crawl. No one has questioned his alias in the time he's been here - why should they? Light seems perfectly normal; he's given the village's residents no reason to suspect anything he says or does. They should take his furnished identity at face value. The only reason anyone would think "Ryuga Asahi" is an alias is if they knew it from somewhere ...

I used to know an Asahi. Several, in fact. It was a very long time ago, and it's unlikely that you'd be related, but... why not? I might as well at least ask you about it.
The first is that he doesn't recognise who that child could be. Given what's happening, he's been able to attribute 'new arrivals' to residents already in Demeleier - but not him.
The second is that the girl with him, Souji is certain, is one of the Seven Stakes. Given his relationships with Ange and Leviathan, this is of interest.
He listens to the recording once more, for detail this time, and gleans that the boy has been affected. But, more to the point, they're new, and that means he's there to help.]

[ There's little question of who the girl in the feed is - Ange recognizes her immediately, fairly instantly, her eyes growing in size for a moment. The fae were playing tricks on the village again, but.. this had to be real, right? Belphegor hadn't been here before, so even if she doesn't recognize the boy, she responds a bit more hastingly than she normally would. ]

[ Sure, Misa had been scrolling through the other feeds on this thing, but most of them were far too boring for her, to a point where she had even discarded the communicator for the time being. But when she finds this, she can't help but let surprise wash over her, since she recognizes the boy even if she doesn't exactly remember him looking like that.
She doesn't know the girl, she doesn't get half of the conversation that's going on, or why he is alive and younger, but.. that name. She remembers.
In her surprise she manages to accidentally click on her feed - she doesn't realise, so all it shows is her staring at the screen, perhaps some slight surprise still lingering on her face. ]
[Oh, L recognizes her; even with his adult memories and mindset already beginning to deteriorate, it's too soon for him to forget one of the more prolific faces in the last investigation of his life.
He is careful not to turn on the camera again, since it's possible that she has the ability to see a person's name when she sees their face, and he's aware of this. He's always thought that she was the second Kira, and especially near the end, that her release coinciding with the newest wave of killings wasn't just happenstance. He practices care in hiding his face, even though he's aware that it was recorded, and that she has already seen him. Old habits die hard.
When he does respond, he uses audio. Though his voice is higher-pitched than the smooth baritone Misa would have found familiar, it retains the same clipped, precise quality.]

She manages to slightly smooth out her expression, even if there are still traces of that surprise in there. That's why she actually genuinely asks the next question, rather than it just being an attempt to change the subject. ]
