I have a new fic to post.  It is basically novella length, so it should be a few chapters, but it isn't massive.  Hope you guys like it and comments are much loved.  Much thanks to heartofoshun for betaing for me.

I think I am going to cry! I just wrote a 300-word or so comment (at least!!) and lost it. I have to take a break and beat my head bloody against a wall before I try to re-create it

Well, thanks for taking the time to retype this long comment then! I really like the idea of Cal and Seel messing around behind Pell's back as well -- as soon as I started writing it, it just felt right.

I don't understand why a lot of readers don't like Seel either, but then I love him, he's probably my favorite. It seems like a lot of people blame him for falling out with Cal and some of his subsequent actions, but I read that as being mostly Cal's fault (although I love Cal too). Not that Seel hasn't done a lot that he deserves the blame for -- if he were perfect, I wouldn't like him as much as I do. He's everything that you said -- a very nuanced character.

I'm sort of a sucker for writing cliffhanger chapter endings.

I love Seel too. Someday, I want to write Seel and Cobweb acting out. Camile Sinensis claims not to like Seel, but she wrote a wonderful Seel story "All That Is Left of Us Is Love."

oh yes, this. just wanted to say how much i agree with what you and heartofoshun said here. Seel's complicated and i love him for that--it's what makes him so interesting!

I absolutely love this story!! It's amazing to me how so many people can write about the same characters and the same time periods and the same events and all of that and have a completely different take on it and make it seem like you're reading it for the first time! And keep the characters true to canon as well. You've definitely accomplished all that!

I actually like Flick and to see this from his POV is interesting to me. Looking very forward to chapter 2!

Thank you! It is definitely a juggling act to write events that are already covered in canon. It gets even more interesting later on with events that are actually from Flick's point of view in the books.
