Poor Flick! Seel's really being a bastard. All this seems so true to character and so how things would have led up to Flick leaving for good. And the fact that Seel and Flick's relationship had reached all it would ever be, a point at which it would never move beyond, really clinches it. I'm really enjoying this and I like your writing style. Hope to see more soon! :D

Thanks, I'm so glad that you you're enjoying it. I always suspected that part of the problem with Flick and Seel was that Seel was afraid to let the relationship move forward so I decided to write it that way.

Thanks for reviewing!

it's so awful watching their relationship break down bit by bit. it's clearly going south, but there are these moments when you think, well maybe, almost, if he does this and he says that, maybe... though of course it can't. which means you wrote it very well!

it is sad, though, it's like the affair that almost never was. Seel's still on the mother of all rebounds and Flick gets the brunt of it. but oh i love Seel even when he's being a jerk and sublimating his emotions into work. maybe even especially.

I did want to add in little moments when these two seem to get along okay, moments when you can almost see their relationship working because even though the books (and this fic) emphasize the bad parts of their relationship, I figured that they had to have some good moments.

I just love Seel all the more when he's being a jerk.

Thanks for your review.

Oops! Forgot to check in and comment on this yesterday. I agree that Seel is very Seelish in this chapter. I love how you capture his inability to be honest and straightforward with himself and how naturally under the circumstances he turns all his pent up frustrations against Flick. I think this fits very well with Seel in canon.

Thanks. I've always thought that half the reason Seel is such a bastard is that he's got all these pent up feelings that he won't let himself express fully. So he releases them in inappropriate ways.
