The following is a transcript from the radio program "Good Morning Gotham City" The hottest prime-time radio show within the city limits. Ron Brimbaeur is the equivalent of Rush Limbaugh.
Ronald Brimbaeur: Good afternoon Gotham City! I’m your local voice of reason Ronald Brimbaeur. Coming up on the program, Arkham Asylum. Should we consider renovation? Is the city’s assistance required in reforming this public institution? I mean, ask yourselves ladies and gentlemen, is it acceptable to have our city’s trademark be a series of-dare I say it-terrorist attacks and an asylum?
But first, our guest for the afternoon. Harvey Dent, crusading ADA on the Gotham City streets, making a big splash down at internal affairs and one police plaza-and up and coming front-runner for the DA race. Harvey, thank you for coming. You mind if I call you Harvey?
Harvey Dent: Not at all Ron. And I want to start off by saying, I’m a fan.
RB: Really? That’s a high compliment coming from a guy like you. Cleaning up Gotham City, Cleaning up the Gotham City Police Department…I think we owe him a big round of applause don’t you?
[Applause Sound Effect]
HD: Someone had to pick up the broom and start sweeping, if you’ll pardon the expression. But it’s the people of Gotham City who are the real heroes. Thanks to we are the Answer we’ve netted over eleven convictions for corrupt cops in the city limits.
RB: Harvey, I’ll be blunt. People say that your campaign against Gotham City’s Men and Women in Blue is demoralizing. I mean one way or other these are the people who are protecting ordinary citizens.
HD: All the more reason they need to be held to a higher standard.
RB: Can you explain further?
HD: These people are people that we trust with our personal safety. People who we trust with the lives of people we care about in addition to our own existence. They need to be held to a higher standard. We cannot continue to overlook corruption in the police force.
RB: Let me address that. In reading some of your statements I’ve noted that quite a few people in Gotham consider your vendetta-and let’s be blunt, it is a vendetta-
HD: Ron-
RB: Let me finish. They consider your Vendetta almost personal. Would you agree with that?
HD: Well of course it’s personal. It’s my job. I don’t think you’re doing your job well if you don’t take it personally.
RB: What about the police officers whose careers you’re destroying on circumstantial evidence? Call me Cynical, but there’s quite a growing feeling in Gotham City that you’re out to get police, not just the corrupt ones.
HD: [Hesitant] I’m not sure what you’re referring to.
RB: I guess what we’re wondering is, are you as committed to cleaning up Gotham City hall as you are to cleaning up the Gotham City police Force? These men and women put their lives on the line during the Narrows Attack-Where were you/
HD: That was what initially inspired me to join the District Attorney’s Office?
RB: So you can promise us that there will be no favors for the people in your office as opposed to the hardworking men and women of the Gotham City Police Department? I mean, yeah holding them to a higher standard is all well and good officer, but attacking everyone in sight isn’t productive to anybody.
HD: I’m careful in my work and devoted to my cause.
RB: That’s got to be murder on your social life. And let’s discuss that. A public image that comes with a face like yours has been linked to quite a number of people…
HD: I only wish. [Laughter]
RB: Including the woman who prosecuted Carmine Falcone?
HD: ….That’s personal information.
RB: I have nothing but respect for a District Attorney who goes after the mob, but it seems as though you’re placing Rachel Dawes in the limelight quite a bit.
HD: She’s a good prosecutor.
RB: ….Come on Counselor.
[There is a few seconds of silence]
RB: Let’s go to the phones! This is a call in show. Hello Caller, you’re on the air with Harvey Dent and Ron Brimbaeur, Voice of Sanity in Gotham City…
Caller01: Hi Ron, I love the show. Hi Mr. Dent. I’m Paul Shafer, Uptown Gotham?
HD: Hi Paul.
Caller01: Listen uh…I was going to vote for you? Until I heard about what happened at the Nataro Trial. There was this rumor printed up in the Gotham Tattler that you attacked this guy. I mean how do you respond to that?
RB: …That’s the first I’ve heard of that. [Rustling off-screen]
HD: …I’m not going to lie. I lost my temper and Officer Dupetti, who was recently indicted by our offices for racketeering said some very slanderous things.
RB: Got it! Caller Two- Diana from North Park.
HD: Diana?
Caller02: Harvey Dent. You bastard-
HD: Don’t you screen your calls?
Caller02: What’s that little bitch Dawes got that I haven’t got? I mean is it true you’re really sleeping with her? Don’t they call that a conflict of intere-
RB: Caller! Hello Lyn in San Diego! Wow, you’re calling in from far away Lyn!
Caller03: Dude, HARVEY DENT ROCKS! I totally believe man! You rock man! You-
RB: And that’s California for you! Land of the fruit’s the nuts and the flakes. Let’s go to another caller-
HD: I want to say for the record that my relationships have nothing to do with my stance on politics or what I intend to accomplish for Gotham city.
RB: You said earlier in the program Mr. Dent, that you would hold everyone accountable. Not just police and other public servants. Does that include yourself?
HD: …Yes. Yes it does Ron. Why-
RB: So tell us the truth. Is Ms. Dawes a colleague or another Lewinsky in training? The last thing this city needs is a sex scandal. That-Ironically is San Diego’s Department.
HD: …Do I have to answer that?
RB: Ladies and Gentlemen, Gotham’s White Knight, the man who has promised to clean up our streets is glancing at his colleagues standing behind the glass booth. What can we expect from this man when the chips are down? Will he stand up or will he look to others like-dare I say it-The batman?
HD: That I can promise. The issue of the Batman will be resolved-
RB: If you win.
HD: …No. I will push for resolution as far as he’s concerned sooner then that. Much sooner.
RB: …I think I speak for everyone when I say, “It’s about time.” And we’re going to commercial, but we’ll be right back with Gotham’s White Knight Harvey Dent!
