I've also had what's called Initial Insomnia since I was very young. (Translation: I have problems getting to sleep, but not staying asleep. Well, I did anyway -_- *mutters unkind words about medicinal side effects*) It's gotten so it's not much of a problem now, but with the re-set sleep time, it's starting to become an issue again.
Some tricks I use: *Eating something before bed. Digestion takes up a surprising amount of energy. *Reading a book. Pretty standard. I usually just read until I feel sleepy, then turn out the light and let my mind drift until I fall asleep. Of course, lately that's been taking a while... *If all else fails, you could try staying up twenty-four-plus hours some weekend and then flopping into bed at your chosen bed time. I usually reserve this for drastic time zone changes on vacations ^^ but I think I might have to resort to it sometime soon...
Anyway, that's what I usually do. Hope you can get some decent sleep soon ^^
