Your name: Camille

Character's name: John Crichton
Character's LJ: winonadontjam
Character's canon: Farscape, Season 2

Brief (around 300 words) personality outline of your character:

John is a fish out of water, only replace “fish” with “lone Human” and “water” with “ridiculously huge, scary new galaxy that eats you alive”. Overall he’s a decent guy trying to survive a long long way from home: he generally doesn’t like to point guns at people but these days he isn’t quite as innocent and peaceful as he had been before he accidentally stumbled upon Moya. He still tries to do the right thing. Or at least he thinks he does. Because of his encounters with various aliens and also with the Aurora Chair, John in particular is squeamish about anything touching his mind and memories, because in a way it’s the only thing that’s really his and his alone in the galaxy he finds himself in. While he tries to maintain a positive outlook and uses Earth pop culture and humor as a way of coping, he’s found it difficult to acclimatize to life as the only human in the Uncharted Territories. Of the Moya crew, John is generally the first one to want to find a peaceful compromise and believe the best in people, although over time that has changed the longer he’s lived life as a refugee and he’s grown more paranoid and distrusting, as well as become more reckless and willing to risk his life.

That said, John is loyal to those he trusts. He values his friends closely, to the point he’d like to ask them to come to Earth with him .As a human guy, John can be pig-headed about things he really wants, such as searching for wormholes, and he tends to get homesick at even small things like chocolate, and can be selfish about putting his needs first - he is, however, generally the first to back down and make a compromise and even in the later seasons, he prefers the more peaceful solutions.

After his stint with the Aurora Chair, John tends to have conversations with the neuro-clone stuck in his head. He can be a bit more unpredictable and irrational especially when he’s involved with conversations with the clone, and when he’s lonely, he tends to retreat into his head, have conversations with the clone or lose himself in his obsessions.

Brief (around 500 words) history and background of your character OR link to a really good wiki page with their history. In either case, explain where they cut off from the timeline:

I’m thinking of possibly taking him after "A Clockwork Nebari" during S2.

If the character has magic, mutant, or otherwise metahuman abilities, please explain what they are and outline EXACTLY how they function,:

This might not crop up, but he has an instinctive inclination toward wormholes - or, rather, he started to after his first encounter with the Ancients and their amazing idea to sneak some wormhole knowledge in there without his consent. This can pop up by him writing equations while he’s distracted or happening to sniff out distortions in space where a wormhole will form.

This probably will come into play, since John’s been saddled up with this since early S2: he has a neuro-clone of Scorpius he’s dubbed Harvey in his brain and he spends a good chunk of Farscape either fighting with him or having weird conversations with him, either arguing or asking his help or just bickering in general. Harvey allows him to fool energy-signature lie detector tests, such as what Scorpius uses, and also Harvey has saved his life several times by hijacking his body or influencing his decisions without him realizing it. S2 Harvey can hijack his body/mind at times, S3 not so much.

Non-superhuman special abilities of note:

John’s been shown to be reasonably creative thinking for outside of the box and also is more scientifically inclined. He’s had some weapons training after living on Moya for so long but compared to the rest of the crew, he’s been told he isn’t astoundingly smart or special, aside from the sheer stint of being Human and what that entails. It’s unclear if his ability to resist the Aurora Chair was because of his own free will or it was a Human thing, since he was the first Human to end up in the Chair. I suppose “good at hiding” might be one. And dodging.

He does seem to have some brawling experience but compared to a Peacekeeper, he’s outclassed.
