I'm thinking of starting the book club again, if there's any interest. Anyone?

Other than that, I am curious what people have for hobbies. I was asked about them earlier and wasn't entirely certain how to answer. I read I suppose. And I like the garden.

Book club? What do you do in a book club?

Everyone reads the same book, and then they get together to talk about it.

Really? Who chooses the books?

Well, last time I did, but I'm not above voting on it. Because, it was a good way to meet people, so I'm willing to be very flexible about it.

A book club really? What have you read so far?

Yes. I think we only met three times. [And he's rather embarrassed about that.]

It was mostly classics, romantic era. Mansfield Park, I think. I'd have to look up the others. We may have read that silly new book with zombies.

Hmm... it was a adding silly stuff to an old book. Pride and Prejudice, I think. I know I read it, but I can't remember if we did anything with it for the club or not. It was ridiculous.

Thank you. If you wish. I am...eagerness is a little beyond me right now.

I have read the documents you required and can now quote them if you wish.

Do you like the CES? I'm not prepared to let you into it without supervision, just because I worry for you storming in there in anger and forgetting to check for sunlight. It isn't that I think you don't take care of yourself, but your emotions get so strong. I worry.

The other place you can fly is on the deck. I hope you don't take to swooping down on people to scare them. Aleera used to do that. Gave no end of people near heart-attacks just from fright.

I would like to know your opinions of them, count. I can quote at least large parts of them myself.

...Yes, yes I do. [He's not looking at the screen much; more down at his clawed hands, spread on the desktop before him.]

[The mention of worry does get him to glance up briefly. His brow furrows a little, and then he nods.] Understood.

[At the mention of Aleera the saddest smile yet seen crosses Dracula's face and he says softly,] Did she? I see. Well. Gleeful malice is not exactly my "thing" these nights.

...

[A sigh.]

They provided insight on the development of modern human culture and ideals. I understand your society a little better now, I believe.

As for me, I miss my own. My own society, my own people, and our way of doing things.

Perhaps not. [Armand bit his lip, his eyes still a bit worried.] You are not she, but you may cheer up yet. If you can let yourself.

Do you want me to walk you up there?

What kind of society did your people have? The little I understood from reading was that you were a tyrant and had your way through terror and oppression. I would admit that absolute privilege is alluring, but even among humans it isn't feasible to keep up long term. The ones on the bottom don't like it.

Great! I'll put you down, Dr. Smith.

What kind of books would you like to read?

[He doesn't want to admit what sorts of books he likes.] I'll go with whatever the club chooses.

I guess I'll have to ask everyone together then.

A book club sounds like a corking idea! Although...we won't be reading any Spinoza or other "improving books" will we? I'm sure dusty philosophers are all well and good, but they're not exactly this Wooster's idea of a fruity time.

I don't know yet. We read Mansfield Park and A Tale of Two Cities and Peter Pan before. It probably will be up to the club members.
