Mr B's parents are coming for a visit next month. That gives me just a few weeks to completely tear the house apart and put it back together. And up the decluttering game considerably. And maybe shave the cats. I don't want to get too crazy here

deep breath! Your inlaws are nice folks, and they are coming to visit because they loves you and Mr B, not to be all judgemental... so just don't give in to the impulse to shave the kitties, okay :)
