Why do you pray to Mary?

Because she saved my life.

Also, the thought of life lasting an eternity seemed like bitter torture until I met her. But now I would gladly live forever if I could love her forever.
She also led me to her Son.

I used not to put too much stock in praying to the Blessed Lady, until I became a better educated Catholic. That was when I discovered that it's impossible to completely love Jesus without loving His mother, who, when I finally prayed to her, really helped me in so many ways. (There are many favors that work especially well if we ask them from her. For example, there is no better saint to pray to if you're going to ask for purity in thought, word and deed.) Also, there is the long-standing Catholic idea of "Omnes cum Petro ad Iesum per Mariam" (To Jesus, with the guidance of Peter/The Pope and through Our Lady).

I know your comment was posted months ago, I am just responding to this Mary-related comment because it's the feast of her Immaculate Conception today. :)
