In another time I was bound to him by a faith stronger than anything else. I am feverish when he speaks to us, and I know the game between us- my eyes behind the mask, the tension plain and unrecognised by my companions, my breathless voice and his singsonging Bella as he talks to them all- it makes it real. I’m sure of the solidity of clouds when he talks to me, yet I know a spell when I see one.
Illusions aren’t just in the game between the two of us.
There’s an edge we’ll never cross- but it’s at this edge that I find my space, my base, my power. I can’t forget I could cut by feet of the blade of this edge as I act and assume. I can’t forget the security I find in his words, his acts and the way we are at tune.
I’m slave to his destiny.
