The Great Happiness?

Oh yeah.

I just finished watching the documentary last night. I had to borrow my twin brother's PSP and had the file converted to MP4 so I can watch it on my own (with headphones on XD) coz the first thing I saw was...ISSEI BUTT NAKED. Finished watching around 45 minutes past 12 midnight.

I agree with Mishi, it was interesting to say at the least.

Isn't the documentary great? I really liked it. Haha! Was that Issei that was naked at the beginning? XD I didn't have a clue who it was because I had to forward that part since my sisters were around and if they saw it, they probably that I would be watching porn or something. Haha!

Yeah, I thought it was interesting when I found out that most of the customers were actually prostitutes. I thought they were just really rich, but I know now.

Ooh! You saw the A.G.E's PV? It's interesting, but their vocals aren't as strong at AGE-OF-EP XD Maybe I'm just bias. Haha... Naw.... AGE-OF-EP's music is just good XD If you're a huge fan of them or of a particular host in AIR, you can buy the single if you want? Haha. I prefer AcQuA's music though ^^

Oh yeah! I remember watching Club Prince's PV for Love Dokkyun. Haha! It's so cracky. But the song is lots of fun to dance to if you're really hyper.

It was Issei, lol, coz at the start of the docu he was shown in his apartment, getting ready to take a shower when he removed his briefs and his behind was seen in full view (the camera -.- ) I had to forward that part too when I tried watching in the comp but I watched it again from the start once I had my bro's PSP coz I was watching alone then.

Well I think for them its a way of 'healing' their costumers, just as one of the customers said, they almost have the same type of jobs so its ok to talk about things they do with the host, coz they will understand them. man, I didn't know Soap Land mean something else in Japan. XD

Age-of-EP's vocals are awesome, hands down. Seriously. Haha. I always thought Juza and Makoto had the best voice out of the group. Well, maybe Naoya too. Ahahaha.

I'm not really a huge fan, but I like the song. Haha. Let me see if I can buy the single, I hope they ship someplace else other than Japan. ROFL. Ah yeah, that's the title, LOVE DOKKYUN. I didn't like it though. XD

Haha. Okay. I'll check out the beginning again XD

Haha! I didn't know what Soap Land was. I was confused I first heard the term in the documentary. I was like WTF is Soap Land? But then, it was described in the documentary.

Yes yes! Makoto and Juza have really strong voices. Yep, Naoya too. I really liked his voice in their second demo cd SFII. Ryo pwns the rap parts though. Ehehe...

Oh man. The song has been stuck in my head for awhile now. Haha. Maybe this means that I'm really liking the single now XD I should buy it. Hmm... I wonder if they'll release another single in the future. Hopefully their vocals will be a bit stronger?

OMG! Maybe you know this already, but the preview for Same Nai Yume is out!

Oh...oh...a preview for Same Nai Yume? Out already? ZOMG thanks for the link! Opps, it looks like my download manager automatically downloads flv's so I guess I'll wait for the download to finish. have you downloaded this anywhere online? LOL. I can convert it to AVI and reup it for you if you want. XD

I had no idea what soap land was, but I guess the documentary gave it away when they showed pictures of countless girls doing...uhm...poses XD Ryo's rapping PWNS! I wish Naoto can sing though, even just a tiny part. I wanna hear his voice. Ahahaha.

I'm waiting for Same Nai Yume, and I'm sooo gonna buy it!

(I came across your lj after seeing your Heyx3 subs post on xaliceninex - hope you don't mind!)

The documentary was really interesting. I just watched it over the weekend and enjoyed seeing the sort of 'backstory' to everything. I think, being exposed to Japanese culture, we're also exposed a bit to host culture here and there. But it's almost like a joke. When I went to Japan this past Summer I got to really experience host culture (our hotel was one block away from Kabukicho, haha), and to meet and make friends with some of the hosts. It's a fascinating idea and something I think is unique to Japan, you know? I'm actually writing my graduating thesis on host culture, but that's another story entirely.

I'm sorry, this is a bit of a ramble. I was just really surprised to come across someone who had seen it, since despite most of my lj friends being into Japanese culture and/or music, no one had even heard about it. Haha! It was interesting to read your post.

ohhh...hello there! its nice to see someone from xaliceninex reading my post. ^^

it was really really interesting. fun to watch actually. I watched it out of curiousity since I saw people recommending the docu if you wanna know more about the host culture (saw it in soompi) so yeah...

oh, kabukicho? if I remember it right, Club Air's in Kabukicho. maybe its the club you went to? lol, I dunno since there are tons of clubs in Japan. XD I visit this...host website and there's this host who caught my eye while randomly clicking on the website.

wow, you've got a really interesting thesis topic! how's it going? the thesis I mean. ^^ goodluck with that. so I guess you going to japan was part of your thesis? and you even get to meet some hosts, must be quite an experience you have. I wanna go to Japan someday. XD

I just hoped I didn't come across as stalker-ish. haha. Thanks again for offering those subs, it was very nice of you to share.

I went to clubs in both Gion in Kyoto and Kabukicho. In Kyoto, I went to Club FrenchKiss. In Kabukicho, the main club I attended was club Crest, though I also visited Neon, Memento Mori (a way fun atmosphere), and Ageha. I didn't come across Club Air, but like you said, there are a lot of clubs. Especially in Kabukicho. About 30-40 hosts on every streetcorner on average nights. I'll have to check it out when I go back. Which host caught your eye?

The thesis is going well. It's still in its very early stages. I'm hoping to do a lot of work on it when I return to Tokyo (either in January or March). When I was in Japan this past Summer I had no plans to write a thesis on host clubs; instead I was just enjoying myself and making friends. Japan's a great place, I highly recommend it.^^

Are you in University?
